I understand that a 40k mmo is in the works(THQ i think...?) This is hard for me, becasue as I love the WARHAMMER universe, I LOVE 40k. I will be strongly tempted to jump ship from WAR upon the release of a 40k mmo.
If 40k proves on par with, or better than Mythics WAR who else will jump ship. OR, who will sacrifice all so that they might play both...?

odds are they will be very different. WAR being made by mythic with a focus on RvR. the 40k MMO is being made by someone completely different.
Even the games themselves are different, with 40k focusing on squads, smaller and more customized than regiments in Warhammer fantasy. some people will play both, others will pick whichever seems more interesting to them, odds are they will be about as similar as any other MMO is to another.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
I'll play both, I mean, they aren't the same in anyway. With WAR, it's all about magic, sorcery, swords and all that fantasy shit right. Warhammer 40k is about Space Marines with 300 lbs. bolters ripping peoples heads off. It's going to be like an FPS/RPG style MMO. Although, I have no idea how THQ is going to do it. Like, if it will be like Tabula Rasa, if it will be like Planetside. Or if they are going to make it into a full-pledged RPG. I wouldn't mind it being like Planetside, but Tabula Rasa sucked.
I have faith in THQ and hope they do a maginficent job. But I will still play both... unless WAR 40k comes out after KOTOR MMO. I really want to play KOTOR, so I will have to choose between WAR, WAR 40k and KOTOR. I can't afford 3 monthly fees, but maybe 2 if the games are worth it :P
Playing: WoW,
Played: Aion, AoC, Eve, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Runescape, Guild Wars, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, WAR, Darkfall
Wanting to try: DCU Online
Waiting For: Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2.
A Warhammer 40k MMO could be a kick ass game if done properly. Hopefully THQ can pull off something nice. But anyways I chose both because I really do enjoy both IP's and couldn't possibly predict which I would play considering neither one is out...
I don't like the whole '40k' so I won't be moving =]

I just don't see a 40k MMO being possible. How many space marines running around one by one do you think makes sense? Maybe if they forced you into a SM Chapter, and you have to group to do PvE....maybe. I'm not holding my breath on the game.
There are quite a few people here with great ideas for a 40k mmo. There are also quite a few glaring obstacles people have pointed out. I really hope THQ delivers with this thing, I love 40k.
I personally couldn't imagine these games competing with each other for the core player base, who mostly have no idea what these wargames play like.
A major misconception here is that Warhammer lends itself to an mmo better than warhammer 40k because of the scale of the actual tabletop game. Blame the awesome artwork and story for that! Both are unit based, true, but units in warhammer fantasy are actualy larger on average and more tightly packed together than in 40k. In base to base contact, in fact, while units in 40k have 2" to breath. 40k feels more like a skirmish game than fantasy, up until you get into the larger games @1,500+.
To capture the larger scale battles in either of these tabletop games is going to involve a lot of things players just won't like. At all. Mordheim and necromunda are better examples of how these things should play out for the most part, with the larger more regimented battles being the icing on the cake instead of the main course.
If all we get is Space Marines, than count me out!
If they do it, I'd LOVE for it to be set during the Horus Heresy.

Oh and playable titans as an ultimate goal

although there is very little info on the 40k one they did say it would not be a fps. this turned me off the idea completely but i am interested to see how it will turn out. the Tabula Rasa combat system was decent (3rd person shooter style) and i do love the 40k races.
1 thing is a must. more than 1 planet. i will not play it if it only delivers 1 planet (i dont care how good it is)
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
if the 40k is more of a FPS style game and not like tabula's auto aim junk i would play that over War any day but i would love to be able to play both and i think i would heh
I second that !!!!!
Auto aim Sucks!!!!!
Well by the time the 40k MMO comes out I will probably be plenty ready for a different game if I am still in the market for an MMO.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
the 40k in my mind needs to be a MMOFPS, if its not then it will be a dissapointment to me. MMOFPS with RPG elements, start from planetside and build up.
that wont sell enough boxes.
