"Dont play the game if you're going to hate on the maker.
Seriously, don't."
LOL what a tool. Maybe its Lufkins main. Actually I could imagine him saying something just like that under his Mod account and then locking it down.
And this from another thread about why people get angry at games.
"
"There was absolutely zero false advertising committed by Funcom. There was plenty of shady, unethical advertising committed, but that is almost to be expected. If you buy into advertising like that all the time, then you're going to have a lot of problems in the real world. Learn to discern information for yourself." |

What institutions do they break these guys out of?
I like how I was initially told that the Demonologist class playstyle and core mechanics were, in fact, based on the demons. By people I very strongly suspect were plants judging from their posts and other observed behavior defending the company at all costs.
Later after the thread was deleted by a demonologist who repented and admitted that the class sucked, the same two people were saying the opposite (they were using a new tactic, another sign they worked for FunCom). I pointed this out and they said that I was lying, they never said such things.
A slight wrinkle in the plan? I had taken their quotes and posted them in relevant places throughout the forum board, including their names. I wouldn't say that their names were typical player names.
I think it was steinerman and burn(worm?)wood.
Yeah.

I agree that the Demonologist class seems to have virtually nothing to do with demons but it isn't that bad. I enjoying playing my Demonologist quite a lot, even if it does seem to be a straight choice between electrocuting everything or just plain setting it on fire.
The pet demon seem to be pretty useless apart from the associated buff just for having it around, but at least Funcom changed it fairly early on so that I didn't have to put up with the embarrasingly bad soft porn female version. The male demon is more reptilian & seems to think it is a Gauld from Stargate as it keeps spouting gibberish in a weird deep voice, but at least it doesn't constantly make cat impressions!
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

There was even a movie recently made about his, it's called "I want to believe"
I don't get it , Why worry so much about such a trivial opinion?

Its all about the fun. I lose no sleep over it but I do enjoy watching corporate Bozos cut from the Smeds mold squirm. I enjoy watching their stupidity getting "rewarded" by the very customers they thought they knew more than and lied to.
On a side note if someone likes it then more power to them but blow spoke up my rear ala Avery type posts..
All in all it will benefit the players as other companies down the road might learn from these misteps.

Last I played my Demonologist, it was exactly that bad. The Demonologist is NOT based on demons in any meaningful, central, core way at all. A lot of the time it was only a liability. I bought AoC almost exclusively for the Demonologist as advertised on the main website, here, there, and still in the forums. There's no way you can tell me that the Demonologist embodies the official description.

I agree with you entirely though that it is not based on demons in any meaningful way at all, but the reason I chose to play the class was that I read it was the closest class in the game to being a pure mage, since I usually prefer to play a wizard or a necromancer in MMOs. I tried the latter first, but wasn't that thrilled with it, so I switched to the Demomologist & found it reasonably enjoyable.
I am not sure I even read the official description that closely, although maybe I should read it again if that is what encouraged you to buy the game in the first place.
