Gaming Companies, why can't they just learn?

There are times when I am gaming and something will happen in a game and I stop and think what certain people that I have gamed with in the past would say at this moment and then I realize how much fun I had playing other games in the past.

To this day I cannot understand how gaming companies do not and for some reason cannot learn from the mistakes other comapnies have made.  Myself I started playing Ultima online not long after Beta and it was one of the best games there ever was and still could be till EA decided to start adding in what "THEY" thought were future advancements in the game and pretty much killed the entire comunity as they decided to release content on top of already glitched old content never really fixing the issues.  SOE are not innocent to this either as for some strange reason no matter what they were told even by soem of us testers about the "New Gaming Enchangement" "NGE" that it would kill the game taking out 80% of teh profession trees that made the charater uniqiue but as well removing certain professions such as creature handler and allowing players to start as a Jedi instead of unlocking it and it showed the accomplished players and of course addin more content on top of broken content would kill this game.  I am just waiting for teh day when Blizzard players for World of Warcraft realize that ever new thing added to this game is just a fresh coat of paint on the saem old mudane quests you have always ran and the Arena system with these ranks are just another coat fo paint on the old BG PvP ranks, and no matter what they say they are going to fix they will try to cover it up with new content like the others didi to distract you from teh stuff that will still be broken.

Why cannot gaming companies realiz truely that because there are only a certain number of X profession in the game or because X number of peop0le are complainng that the players that are going to stay are usually the ones NOT complaining and for those professions you start to give away or take out completely, there are guilds of hundreds of players in a tight community that will be just as mad as their friends that you piised off.

Call me stoopid or crazy but just once I would like the see a gaming company actually not listen to the big fast dolloar coming in and trying hard to make more fast bucks but to actually listen to the players and let games and gamers celebrate 10 years together and I still do not know how but Ultima Online has done this, I guess it si still the only game where you send in a GM ticket and you talk to teh GM state your petition and at times get your errors fixed on the spot not wait for a week with something broken for a server maint period.  Look at it how you want but in the end gamers are consumers yes we do pay for a product and just like anyone who pays for anything if it is broke we want it fixed, not to be patronized by a new flashy color or a replacement that looks new but still has that fault, we will come back loking to get that fixed as well and do this enough and we will get tired of a broken product, throw it in the garbage and take our business elsewhere.

So your company has the next "BIG THING" in games?  You can get us to buy it but can you keep us as customers that is what you should be thinkning, not how much money you can try to suck out of us and how fast you can do it.

If the people who makes the games actually played them then they would improve.

Ever heard of someone who makes wine and doesn't drink his own produce?

In the gaming world the people who are responsible for the games rarely plays them.

Most big companies understand only oen thing: $. If it seems to them more people will pay because of their nerf the game'sdifficulty, they will do it. Even A net did it.

I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.

They are constantly being pulled in multiple directions becuase everyone thinks they know whats best for the game. Then they are trying to make everyone happy so they are bound to piss a few people off. Then they have upper management pressuring them to bring in a projected $$$ in profits. Then you have bug fixes. Then you have customers pounding you in tons of forums across the internet to change the game in their personal image. Its not an easy task.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

yep, I hear ye, nkryptik. reminds me of my post about reoccurring mistakes made already in beta (see here, if anyone is interested).

I don't know why, but they always do the same mistakes. Sad. Currently I am therefore sticking to single player games again.

I agree except with regards to WoW. I think they have the right idea by preserving their existing player base. I am opposed to changing existing content unless absolutely necessary, and it appears that WoW is aware of the successful market strategy of retaining monthly subscription fees.
