64 or 32 bit

New to this forum so I apologize if this has already been discussed.  I am in process of getting a new computer and I am trying to decide whether to go 32 or 64 bit vista OP.  I plan to use system to mostly be  just a WAR system (assuming the game lives up to the hype) but I dont want to have to upgrade any time in the near future.  I read the min requirements and I understand they are pretty easy to comply with but I want to run game at max settings and not have any issues.  Any advice?

If you plan on using 4 or more Gigs of RAM, (I'd suggest at least 4 with Vista.) then get the 64 bit. Otherwise get the 32 bit. I would suggest more RAM since you are using Vista, so, 64 bit is the way to go.

I am very computer illiterate. I did a search on my computer to see what operating system I have and it says 32 bit but not Vista 32. So do I have a 32 bit Vista system? Reason I am asking is because I wanted to update my video card drivers. Also do I really need to update my drivers if everything is working fine?

start->right click on "my computer"->Properties->see what system you got.

and yes, 64bit is better in my opinion. With 4 gigs of course.

2 gigs is minimum to run at max settings,  i think.

Drivers contain some bugfixes and fps boost in certain games. I wouldn't say it is nessesary to update them everytime they come out. But over the time, yes, you'll get more fps out of your card.

As someone else said, if your going with 4gig of ram go with 64. At 3 gig its a toss-up but I would still personally go with 64. However I would perosonally say get a copy of windows xp-pro if your going to use it as a gaming system. Vista is getting better but still a resource hog compared to xp. Either that or learn how to customize the piss out of vista. You can actually get it close to xp with ALOT of tweaking.

Only use XP for non games I have yet to find a driver that lets me play games with my 8500 GT Im hoping a older card will fix the problem. Going with a 7200 tomorrow and if that doesn't work I don't what the hell Ill do.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

Maybe there is an older driver for the 8500gt that will allow you to use xp? I can see the problem though and its unfortunat. Vista just uses so many resources that it shouldnt have to that bugs me. I have vista and still debate on going back to xp sometimes just to have the extra resources.

A lot of those background resource hogs can be turned off.
