Unusual and creative character creation ideas

I realize that there is already the Race/Class topic, but I wanted to get more specific.....

So I want to know who's out there that doesnt like to make the cookie cutter characters that we always know will work? aka the 1H or 2H sword specialized Warrior, the Cleric healer, etc etc... the stuff that is tried and true, and focused stronger than sunlight through a magnifying glass. lol....

I wrote in the other forum that I haven't played EQ before (except a few days on the trilogy now, just waiting for EQ really) , and that , like many others, have played a lot of AD&D (2nd &3rd Ed)...

and since it is not really clear on the the EQ2 site at all.... I was thinking about attempting to use Wood Elf race , Scout archetype , but here is the kicker.... I want to have a Dirge or Troubador who can kick a$$ with a bow, and not just his music...... What say you? possible or not? fishing for some experienced oppinions and ideas...........

The next idea that I havent tried with an RPG (speaking D&D here since I have no EQ under my belt), is the bow master // battle mage , enchanting my arrows or combat abilitys to improve the ranged performance or casting spells to paralyze the enemy or otherwise assist my targeting // combat effort....  Ideas??

In eq1 any fighterish class can use bows... bards dont mainly use music btw.. in eq1 2 swords was the way to go until very high where songs were used for money on hgs...

Its just my opinion but I doubt you would have much luck making those kind of characters in EQ2 and definately couldnt in EQ1.

In the original EQ a mage couldnt even use a bow.  As for a Dirge using one in EQ2 I doubt anyone knows yet, but the only class that I saw the Knowledge skill of archery listed for was Ranger.  Maybe in EQ2 you dont have to have the knowledge skill and it just makes you better with the weapon so its hard to say.
