I find it disgusting that companies cut content just to meet a release date, specially a company that should have done enough money from Daoc not to rely on what EA says.
Well, EA has done well publishing some games, it seemed fine for Hellgate, except we had to wait a few hours after the servers were up to digital download, but that's why I bought a Collector's Edition from EB.
I think that Mythic did a superb job with explanation of why the cuts were made, and I support it 100%, you can only delay a game so much before people become uninterested and go elsewhere, sometimes you need to cut loses and move forwards, and that's what they did, and it is respectable.
It also isn't about money, I'm sure they have enough money to keep developping, it's just EA probably pressured them in to setting a final release date.
Which I believe they did, so in the end, it all worked out, and we'll see how great the game is in a month and a bit.
The Choppa was cut because it was....unbalanced, to say the least. Without redesigning the core components of the class it wouldn't have fit in very well at all.
I'd like to see finished before unfinished, judging by the two cities in the game already they are definately worth the wait.
Unfinished zones imply an unfinshed game, or are you guys not putting 2 and 2 together? That is like building a car, and having trouble perfecting the the backseat seatbelts, and just taking them out of the car and saying, well we sitll have seatbelts for the front driver and passenger seats so we will be ready for the street date. No matter what people want to believe, cutting content too meet a deadline shows you that they will definatly be doing the same in the future. I wont even be surprised if what is hapening to AoC now, happens to War in october.
Cause il be damned if not every mmo didnt cut something, even our oh so god like WoW cut content, that was released later in patches, or xpacs.
But my big thing is that people are here like, they had this content, and it was stripped away from them, unless you are in beta, what do you care? To you its all new, and if you still have fun, who the fuck really cares? "oh well i dont have 6 cities so fuck this game" hey you still got two, and they are new to you, so enjoy them and then down the line the others will come in and they will be new to you and prob wont tire as easily.
If all the mechanics work as intended in end game, then in the long run, you win.
Point is fun, and its all new to you, so enjoy it, because you didnt have it before.
I had this arguement with a friend of mine who plays WoW saying WAr doesnt look to be so hot cause of the cuts, well i had to inform her of all the cut WoW made that came in later.
