Overused Blizzard Formula

I've seen this formula in three blizzard games:

The hero of Diablo becomes possessed by Diablo

Arthas, prince and paladin becomes the lich kings death knight

Sara Kerrigan becomes the leader of the renegade zerg

Think it's time they tried something new? I'm a long time Blizzard fan, but this is getting old

Final Fantasy XI Online- Nabara

It's not getting that old. I was quite shoked when Arthas turned evil.

And i think the Diablo thing comes natural. I mean come on. DO you think you can kill Diablo and have happiness forever?

Ummm... it's one of thows movie plots, it is old per say because it's been used in other things like books and movies. But hey, atlest they were different in the way each of them turned evil. And as for Arthus, was kind of expecting that after he would not leave frozen north.

Yeah but I mean the hero who killed Diablo wasnt just insane, he was possessed, and Arthas became possessed by frostmourne.

Did you honestly think the guy from diablo would actually kill him and not be screwed over his self I mean every person in the game was or is going to.

I preferred the Kerrigan one to the other 2. Wasnt expecting it and half the Zerg plotline was based around it. Also, Arthas going bad was extremely predictable. As soon as he said he wanted to go north I knew he was a goner. And it would be hard to kill the Embodiment of Terror without it affecting you juuuuust a tad. I mean, if Diablo went poof! forever, noone would ever be scared again which would kinda be odd...

It's just the classic Fallen Hero storyline. Few archetypes are as impacting as that one, because for some reason it makes the characters seem less invincible and draws you into the story further.

Besides, bad guys are cool. hehe. I don't think many people were thinking 'oh, how trite' at the ending cinematic for TFT. I was practically drooling.

But Jesus loves the little children. He wouldn't posses you. When Diablo died in Diablo I, the hero walked out the dungeon like "F--- yeah, well that's done." And he knew nothing about it. But in the opening cinematic of Diablo II, it was the same hero (actually it was portrayed as a warrior) and he was screaming and yelling as he was trying to fight the possession. I thought it was a better path to take instead of saying "While his physical body was destroyed, his spirit wondered the Earth until he regained enough strength, blah blah blah." That would have been bad.

Arthas had it coming to him. No one is 100% good, and I looked at that small percent of bad was multiplied again and again when he was overtaken. So that was cool how that power of the Lich King could take what little evil was in someone and expose it then manipulate it. I saw that from a mile away however.

When Kerragin(sp?) got infected, it was by complete surprise to me. I was like "Woah she's strong." And then I was like "Woah that's gay." when the infection started and then when she was on the bad guy's side I was like "Woah...I'm dead." And then I died. Because I had to put up the dishes and I forgot to pause the game. Hah hah hah, I can't believe I still remember that.

Umm.. yea but I just love a good pliot twist as long as it does not turn unto a soap opera I am happy, no sleeping with the brothers wife crap.
