I don't see why mmorpg companies have a problem with gold buying because it's not like you're generating cash from nowhere, it's not breaking the economy because it already exists in the game, if they made money making more fun then people wouldn't buy it.
---------------------------------------- Talking about SWG much?
I have never bought any gold on any mmo. Maybe my account was hacked I dont know ,that would really piss me off. I just think that as long as I have been a customer they would try to contact me or something about it instead of just banning me. I am definatly done with that game though as I am very mad about it . What game should I get into I have Conan, Vanguard, and Lotro.

I'd say take a break for a couple of months and get yourself out of MMO's a little bit after this incident. If you jump on immedietly to another game, It won't be as fun or fresh. But if you wait a bit, you might enjoy it more and get some time away from these crazy MMO games.

I got this email and I cant get onto my account. Access to this account has been permanently disabled for exploitation of the World of Warcraft economy or for being associated to accounts which have been closed for intended exploitation. While we try to be as lenient as possible in our assessments of the results of exploitation investigations, exploitative endeavors on your accounts have ultimately lead to their closure. The recurring subscription on the account has been disabled to prevent further charges.
I am a very casual player and would not know how to exploit anything in WOW. I dont inderstand how I could have been shut off I have barely even touched the game for weeks.
Have you shared your account or used the account at another address? I have heard that sometimes they will stop access to an account if it's being used by 2 different addresses.
Also, did you accept any large amount of gold ingame from someone? Did a buddy of yours tip you gold or someone said they were quitting and gave you all their gold?
At least send off an intelligent email explaining that you are unclear as to why you were specifically banned and that you would like more details because you believe an error has been made.

I admire how Blizzard takes a serious stance again gold-sellers, exploiters, and hackers.
It is why I continue to purchase, and almost always enjoy, Blizzard products. Heck, although I do not play WoW, I will probably buy the WoW expansion in principal and to check it out.
I hope Blizzard's stance against cheaters, gold-sellers, and others that undermine community and gameplay continues well into the future with even greater emphasis and seriousness.
A keylogger's just a program that a programmer used by figuring out how the company uses keys and mixes them up its just guessing. But if you get a accounts key and find out the info you can probably get the account that way....but most hackers dont have the patience to do that. They'd rather do 24/7 of cracking programs I beleive...
You are thinking of a keygen. A keylogger is a virus/program that gets onto YOUR computer and then logs every single keypress. It forwards that file to the hackers server, who then goes through the list looking for passwords.
Most of the hackings are done via Trojans which are so easy to be infected with. They basically give the hacker full access to your PC. They read exactly what they want and can even watch your screen as you use your PC.
The last set of 'hackings' isn't anything of the sort. It's simply an account thats had the details shared to a friend, who's then gone and passed it on, or used the account himself.
Both Maxtor and seagate have released infected hard drives. These are drive which come out of the factory already infected with a virus/trojan specifically designed to steal passwords. I believe the seagates came out of a factory in china.
You can be infected by simply buying a new HD, or visiting a website which has an exploit hosted in one of it's advertisments.
Best advice...
ALWAYS scan a new HD.
NEVER allow a website any permissions if your Antivirus says it needs anything special.
NEVER accept ANY files (pictures or programs) from anyone if you don;' know exactly what it is (yes a trojan can be hitten inside a simple picture).
Oh, now I know what you were talking about, I thought it was the opposite hehe. But to get infected harddriveswhat would happen if you had high protection? Wouldnt it kick it out or would it just destroy your whole comp? I know a friend who said his harddrive was taking all his info or something and when he got protection it was acting up...dunno if it was this problem...
I don't see why mmorpg companies have a problem with gold buying because it's not like you're generating cash from nowhere, it's not breaking the economy because it already exists in the game, if they made money making more fun then people wouldn't buy it.
It totally screws up the economy in-game. Items that should realistically be priced at a couple hundred gold end up costing thousands. Sellers rely on people to want their stuff bad enough to go to the gold farmers and purchase more money in-game than they are normally able to obtain.
Add to that the fact that someone in the real world is literally making thousands of dollars a month (or week!) by playing the game, and the makers get pretty ticked off.
about a year ago I went to re-activate my account to find out it had been disabled for using illegal third party software. I never recieved an email stating this and the CSR refused to tell me what third party software was detected.
So, sometime between the time I cancelled my account and when I re-activated it I was banned. The account was closed for well over a year before I went to re-activate it. Im one of these guys who doesnt download any sort of mods, much less anything illegal. I was also one of these guys who automatically assumed anyone who got banned had to be doing something to warrant the ban, whether they knew it or not (much like most of you here). I started to think maybe it was my Nostromo showing up as illegal, but it didnt make much sense since the account was banned during my absence.
So ya, Its totally likely that they mistakingly ban accounts due to incompetence. I wrote email after email and was just basically told they were under no obligation to tell me the nature of the reason I was banned. I had no choice but to not return to them since they couldnt tell me if something on my computer queried as "illegal" to them. I wasnt going to risk spending money and time on a new account to have it banned because they dont know the difference between Nostromo or G15 drivers and an illegal program.
Im still confused as to how it was banned AFTER I closed the account.
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a robot foot stomping on a human face -- forever."
Blizzard has been banning a shitload of people for quite some time now. Its insanely retarded, especially if you put lots of time and effort into your characters like I did. 70 rogue, and 70 pally gone from a random ban. GG blizzard.
I can understand why you would be frustrated if this happened to you, but at least Blizzzard is trying to do something about getting rid of all the gold farmers even if it doesn't work. A lot of companies are going the other way and selling out via microtransactions so they can make more money and become gold farmers themselves.
Sometimes they do this when an account has been hijacked. Once it has become hijacked it has then been used for exploitive purposes. I know the wording from Blizz is confusing and it makes it sound like you are guilty. Best thing to do is contact them and try and get it straightened out. If indeed your account has been hijacked then you will need to make absolutely certain your system is clean of keyloggers before getting your account back or it will just get hijacked and banned again.
This is has happened to a friend of mine.
Good luck.
Edit: BTW chances are your account didn't get hacked but more than likely hijacked or stolen using a keylogger probably installed through a website you went to. Hacked makes it sound like some douche just broke into your system and stole your account. Being hijacked still sucks and is wrong but you are partly yo blame from it so learn from it rather than assume some ass screwed you over and there was nothing you could have done about it.

Doh. until you report your account as compromised how can they help you ? You might of got sick of the game and gone on a rampage, you might of sold the account etc etc. Blizzard has the best support out there of any MMO especially in such situations, most other companies just ban the account and give you no chance what so ever to get it back.
Being number one Blizzard is the main target for keyloggers and hackers, that is why they have recently released the Authenticator, which generates a one time used code every time you log in, will really put a dent in the gold stealing business when it gets more popular.
If your account has been hacked (which it sounds like it has) you'll probably find on reactivation various items and gold will be gone, so i suggest to get in touch with blizzard and explain to them ( as certain gents in this thread have said ) you believe it could have been hacked or compromised and have your account rolled back to your last billing period and have your password and any secret questions and answers reset.

age of conan or lotro would be my best bet lotro better if you have a low end computer age of conan take alot of memory and a really good computer but other then that i think its a good game lotro got lifetime thing going on for 200+ dollors

Or, how long does it take to earn lots of gold vs how long it takes to buy it? That's lost subscription time in the eyes of the game company.
I wont go into detail but WOW is an easy game to hack player accounts from. How simple? Well 10mill subs and out of those there was a report by hack site that 2% or more accounts could be hacked by simply investing small time into guessing login and password combinations because 10million players out there and most use same login passwords for many things. They can do it several ways.
I just bet your account got hacked and someone used it to do something against the EULA.
It is scary thing indeed, I'm glad I do not play anymore though.

It depends what you're after but personally I've been playing LOTRO since launch and still loving it.
