"In the days leading up to the launch of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, there is a great unrest amongst the Realms. The forces of Order and Destruction are hungry for battle and the taste of bloody victory. The time has come to sharpen your blades and don your armor. The time has come to gather recruits and strengthen your armies. The time has come to fight for control over the unclaimed territories of North America, Australia, and New Zealand. The Age of Reckoning is near. Declare your allegiance, choose your army, and march into battle on the Road to WAR. "

Im a bit confuzed what exactly it is, but im signing up so neh
Nah this seems like a simple minigame, not really an important announcement.
--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
i sure hope not, but ya never know.
And it seems what happens in there is tied to the opening day.
Oh shit I hope your not serious LOL! I have -3000 gold :P
Currently restarting World of Warcraft
It may be just a minigame but it does promise ingame prizes to the winners so it seems worth the look.
Games I've Played: WoW, FFXI, SWG, CoH, EVE Online
Games I'm Waiting for: WAR, Stargate Worlds
Wont load for me . . must be under a heavy load.
took forever to load...and then I just clicked off it lol. Doesn't interest me. Those kind of things never really did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
I guess it might be worth a look - IF the page ever came up. Apparently they didn't want to load balance the destination pages, and it is getting hammered into oblivion now.
Doesn't exactly make it fair if people want to compete for this stuff. Oh well.
IMO its just a fun way of Mythic seeing what most people think they are gonna play in the game....You can already see the imbalance ( at the time I looked at it a bit ago).

Don't forget about the actual ingame stuff some people will exploit this site to get
Weekly Awards: Caches of Victory Points
Players who participate in a battle and are part of the winning Realm will receive Victory Points, should they meet the requirements of that week's battle objectives. They may also receive a trophy that appears in their Trophy Room. There will also be a trophy for being part of the winning Realm overall.
After each battle, participating players in the winning Realm will earn a cache of Victory Points. Others may receive Bonus Victory Points for meeting certain battle objectives, as outlined in each weekly battle.
Grand Prize: Never-Ending Bowl of Custard and Player Title
After the final battle, the Realm that has control over the greatest number of regions overall, will receive a special in-game prize that no one else can get in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning—a Never-Ending Bowl of Custard—and a special player title. The custard may be eaten or hurled at an enemy, and will always be replenished.
In addition, when the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning servers go live, the capital city for either Order or Destruction will be placed at Rank 2, depending on which one wins overall in Road to WAR.
Prize for Top Individuals: A Special Warhammer Online In-Game Item
Individual honors will also be given for the top Gold earners, best recruiters, and other top competitors throughout the Road to WAR. These players will receive a special in-game item—the Signet of the Cursed Company— to use when they play Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
Its another way of seperating NA from Europe, and piss off Euro players at the same time. Don't think GOA is involved with this, so Euro beta accounts don't work on it.

I have to agree that part annoys me. I know they let GOA handle the Euro part, *again*. But couldn't they at least give the *semblance* that they are releasing this game to the world and are involved in what happens around the world and including evereyone?
This is just yet another sign that we are being left in GOA's hands again, something I'm not particularly happy about. Why couldn't this simply be handled globally?
This really feels like "We do our own stuff, you can do whatever you wanna do" and as a result the rest feels left out as the real team behind the game is not involved directly in our gameplay.
Edit: Not getting the point across well in words but it's hard to describe, of course they are making the game so they *are* directly involved in that way. It's hard to tell how but this just doesn't sit well if you're not part of the US imo, especially with my old Daoc EU experience.
With the current state of the Euro and even a game like WoW having hardly more US subscribers than EU and considering the EU supposedly has a very strong Warhammer following I highly doubt that ^^
I get what your saying Pheace. I'm in NA so I dont have to deal with issues like this but I can see how it would irritate the hell out of anyone having to deal with it.
Did you know that the Road to WAR server is out of disk space?
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
I hope the state of the "Road to War" server/s isn't an indication of what we are going to have to put up with in the open beta/release.
It chugs worse than a 386 and is obviously overloaded to hell.
Wakey, wakey, Mythic, your performance is being rated on this mini game, and your getting very low marks so far.
Nice marketing concept, but the hardware is letting you down.
Ps: Hey Mythic, it's bloody August and we are still waiting for the July newsletter, come on guys, you should be doing better than this. I hope the actual game is coming along better than these 2 items.

It's a game, ffs.
I've tried to get on that site last night and now this morning and it just isn't happening. I wonder if they even realize their site does not run well.
They have some pretty crafty marketing people there. Great idea to get people involved in marketing their game for them.
You get stuff by bringing new blood, by adding materials to your sites advertising this game and you give them information on yourself; which is pretty valuable and hard to get sometimes. Ever try to get people to fill out surveys, not fun.
If the site didn't run so slow I'd try it out, but overall a really good idea on a cheap way to bring in more people and market the game in effective channels. *thumbs up*

The site is down now but has a place holder thats say "Road to War Official Site Starting Soon". Also the site is registered out of San Monica but looks to be supported out of the UK, and the fine print on the page when the site was up listed GamesWorksop as the company and just EAMythics (TM) info. So it seems to be some kind of ad partnering site. Looks like a neat little mini-game if they can get it to load into browsers properly.
I didnt read the site since it took to long to load but i really hope this wont screw the economy (before the game is even out lol). I mean wont it be lame to start a mmorpg with so much gold/ faction? And wont this hand loads of gold to farmers?
Hope someone can answer
I think it is more of a contest with prizes getting some kind of unique item for the winning side for those who sign up.
The prizes are titles and a statue for the winners. Others that are not the top winners but helped in the cause get custard pies you can throw at other players unlimited times. Basically items that have no effect on game play but are fun to have.
Do I personally like this approach? No for the websites are way to easy to manipulate (AKA hack) to give you an advantage.
On another note thou, it was interesting to see (before the site went down) that majority that did register and get into the site all were mostly of the Corruption side. I have a feeling this is going to be an issue in this game, good thing there are population caps for sides on the servers or this would be a huge issue. Smart thinking on Mythics part for realizing this before release.
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
Yep had that problem back in the day with Planetside one side always getting the short end of the stick. I'm not sure on the specifics but it seems they will have a nice balance system for avid the zerg of one side or the other.

There are a few things they did mention,
1. Stat changes (Lower population gets a buff) before you start screaming everyone, they did this in daoc and it wasn't crazy, it was fractional accounting, IE %, so don't worry about it this has been done before by mythic along with the other stuff below.)
2. NPC Enhancments (lower pop side has a bit tougher npcs)
3. Server balances (Not able to join a full side)
4. Ques (Not to happy about this but I get it)
and some other stuff.
