This is just an idea to share one thing you would like an MMO to do.
For me it would be to give a least a 3 month subscription with the box. Prove to me, the consumer, that you are willing to bet that after three months I will still want to play your game. Kind of a put your money where you mouth is. That way I don't feel held hostage by your promises to fix content or put in things you promised before release.

dare to be DIFFERENT.
why should we pay to play your imitation of another game? Go with your original vision. Make it unique.
nice and all that would make games even more expencive.. so thats a no go.. and u cant expect them to sell game for less and hand out free subs.
i would say the only thing i want a new mmo to do is beat wow . done

I'm not sure why it would make it more expensive. It's not like mmo releases are nothing but extended live betas anyway. All I'm saying is let me stay long enough for you to prove you care about this game and are patching it in the right direction, something that in 30 days you just can't accomplish. An extra 30 or 60 days would and should not raise the cost of the box.

Lets not be unfair to the dev team now. They still need to make some money here. Secondly, while I see what you're trying to say, I feel one month is more than enough time.
The market would be very different then... Mmos are the most expensive games to make, the first thing a company has in mind is money. We all need money, now you can take a massive risk and do something new. Or you can take a large risk and make clone of a popular formula. The only way the market can change is if something crazy guy comes in and makes a successiful, but different mmo. Then people will try to copy that formula. In the end we should blame global warming! The problem with offering a 3 month subscription with the box is that so many people probably only stay with any one game for about 2 months. I think that if people stay for more than 2-3 months then they will probably stay for a much longer period(even if the game isn't their "main" game). In short, the game providers would be missing out on way too much profit by doing that.
