Ugh read the other thread on this. AOC 80 levels got to do 20 levels, War 40 levels with 4 tiers, you get to do 20 and 2 of the 4 tiers. It s nothing to worry about.

Copy and paste from another thread exactly like this, activate!!

Oh brother, I knew this was coming. More troll food. However, WAR is not AoC. They could've said "you'll be stuck at max level so we can test end-game content" but then once you actually played the game at launch you wouldn't be able to experience the end-game content for the first time. Kind of a bummer. I'll laugh if everyone complains about this, then halfway into the beta Mythic switches it around and says "Please make max level chars from now until the end of beta. We need to test the high level stuff." That probably won't happen but they're still using beta as focused testing, which means they don't have to focus only on the low levels.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

the only thing i can say is....that while AoC did this...you were restricted in the noobie area....in WAR...this is already 2/4 tiers you will get to play....so you get access to half the game. MORE than enough to decide if you like it or not. And you get access to all tier 1 and 2 pvp, quests, scenarios, etc.

It was my complete impression that Beta (open or closed) meant they were testing, even still.  I am excited about open beta (just got my pre-order in today) and am excited about what WAR could become.  Not to say I may be completely disappointed as I was with AoC...but I'm excited what's anticipated of the game.

Open-beta and its limitations are just a way of giving players enough taste whilst continuing the service they have stated they would provide.  I much prefer open beta than full out LIVE simply because there's more opportunity to make LIVE that much greater.

  • i did this for Vanguard, and as soon as it was looking bad i canceled my pre-order.  I thought it would be difficult...but it wasn't :(

There really isn't need for concern. Just like others have said tier1-2 is about half the game. So that should be plenty.

I'm probably going to end up playing a bunch of guys up to like 8-10 or so and just really try and figure out what class I wanna play at launch.

It's open beta, dude, it's free. It's either this or nothing....

Plus, there's more to do from rank 1-20 in WAR, then there is to do in AoC in levels 1-80. There's a lot to do in just the first 20 ranks and I know :D

    Playing: WoW,

Played: Aion, AoC, Eve, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Runescape, Guild Wars, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, WAR, Darkfall

    Wanting to try: DCU Online

Waiting For: Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2.

Also remember, you can go to any Tier 1 or 2. That means you can go to a total 12 HUGE zones. Remember, the zones in WAR are bigger than in WoW because they accomodate two factions, not just one. So Tier 1 zones are shared by their pairing.

A few clarifications, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

    1. This isn't a Fileplanet Beta fiasco like AoC has. This isn't even a true "open" beta. This is the opportunity for pre-order customers to partake in a controlled part of the game which will give them a preview of the gameplay they can expect upon release.

    2. Invitations for the open beta are only for pre-order customers, not general sign-ups and such, so calling it "free" is a bit of misinformation -- you do have to pre-order to have the necessary code to put into your account.

    3. I would guess that the existing beta population will have shifted into more of a "second half" of the game's content/tiers to help test the PvE and RvR there. By the time this open beta starts, I would expect the 1-20 areas to be pretty well-polished and ready for release, given that many people make their final decision to buy/subscribe based on their open beta experience.

    4. I think this is a great opportunity to get yourself some playing time with several classes to help determine what you really want to play upon release. Plus, hitting level 20 doesn't stop your gaming experience; you will still be able to fight in Realm vs Realm vs. the other people who are capping at 20, making for a nice, even playing field at the mid-game level.

The fact that the client should be available in around 10 days makes me almost giddy - I only hope the Open Beta starts right afterwards! :)

I just have one question what exactly are you referring to when you say tier ?

My only worry is a stress test should allow you to test all aspects of a game , To see how each system handles the load .

almost every, if not every, aspect of the game HAS already been tested... and if the beta test is shorter then 3 weeks you wont HAVE the time to test "every aspect" even if you rush to 40 :o)

    basically

1-10 leveling areas are considered tier 1

10-20 leveing areas are considered tier 2

    Sorry about that ^^

Tier is more or less a fancy way of saying "zone" altho a tier is more then just a level 1-9, 10-19 and so on zone... it's also the place you have to work in and fight for so your side can capture it and make it easyer for the higher tiers to capture their tier...

But in general... it's a huge map ^^

Edit: correction... not 1 zone, all zones for the current races for that level... so the "elven tier 1" would be the lvl 1-10 zone for high and dark elves :o)
