For the record people like mine have shown up to help with your problems repeatedly. 8,000 of my people are currently deployed in Afghanistan for exactly that purpose. You didn't ask us, we volunteered. Something your people have never yet done for mine.

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_was_rationed_during_World_War_2

In Great Britain, the weekly ration per person got smaller and smaller as the war dragged on in to its second and third years. Almost every type of food was rationed; some things were simply not available, like oranges and bananas. Eggs were scare and sugar was limited to one ounce a week, per person. Powdered milk and eggs were the usual things for breakfast.

Clothing was rationed, so were paper, ink and soap. Gasoline was limited to those who had a job that was essential to the war effort. Most people parked their car for the duration of the war. Coal and oil was severely rationed in Great Britain, as was all most everythinh else.

    WHY?

Because so many things had to be brought to the UK by a ship, and the German U-boats were sinking many of them as they crossed the Atlantic Ocean from North America. In order to send much-needed supplies to Great Britain, people in Canada and the USA had to give up SOME of what they were used to, but the rationing here was no where as bad as it was in Great Britain.

Its still pretty good in the states as far as human rights goes.

It's extremely embarassing to be associated with people such as yourself.
When you come from a nation that is doing as much for Africa as China is, when you come from a nation that isn't involved in it's own oil massacres and sovreignty abuses, then you might be a position to judge.

The US has been donating literally hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars to Africa, not to speak of its citizens individually.

    And you know what?

By doing so they have actually made Africa worse off than ever before. Thanks to the money and food donated, hordes of gruesome raping and mutilating people are more numerous than ever before while Africa still can't independently support the people on it.

Oh, have you heard about the ethnic cleansing instituted by Mugabe to wipe out and murder white people, namely the farmers?

    BRAVO!

    It's about racism.
These attacks on China are just racial intolerance. You want someone to feel superior of and China is your target.

This is hilarious since just above you cited the support for Africa as something that was actually positive. Aid to Africa is almost 100% about saying that you did something good.

The reasons people point at China and hate it are very real.

It is a 3-billion strong super power that has no respect whatsoever for human rights. Its exports have proven, and will continue, to be toxic. China is a problem.

All you really care about is bigging yourself up about how morally superior you are.
    WE ARE SUPERIOR!

Honestly, all I'm saying that is you come there to play the game. A game that should have no political (like that would never happen) views involved. If you want to preach, you be ready for the conciquences.

i honestly expect china to get some sort of kudos, bravos, noble prize for their efforts in cleaning air quality after all is said and done.

not that they deserve it...just because america alone criticized it. others may have said boo about it, but solely big dog barked-international forces howl.

i hope america does really really well.

i think china audience will give america a very warm reception and graceful applauds, perhaps standing O's- i think this is all a charade that china will paint to lull americans back home.

thats what i would do with the power of chinese rule.

People out there are working hard to get something together. The nation of Cina has gone to great lengths to host a successful Olympic games and to you, it's just a big excuse to stick your finger up at them.
It's extremely embarassing to be associated with people such as yourself.

When it comes to bad shit, you take the good with the bad. No one is perfect. No person and no society. Not any of us.
It is pretty poor to abjectly focus on the bad things only, particularly when the good so obviously far outweighs it.
It's not about Darfur. It's about racism.
These attacks on China are just racial intolerance. You want someone to feel superior of and China is your target.

What do you care about Darfur?
Niothing. You do nothing to help. You don't send guns to the faction you support. You don't send money. You aren't there now protecting and helping them.

I come from a nation that did do something about Poland. I come from a nation, that did do something about the Holocaust.
People here not only fought in their defense at the cost of millions of our own lives, we all took them into our homes.
So please, don't preach to China about Darfur, adopt a refugee. Take some of them into your own house and feed them.  It's tiring to listen to you all preaching but doing nothing.

All you really care about is bigging yourself up about how morally superior you are. You abuse the Chinese to make yourself feel better.
Quite frankly if protesting in China is the best help you have to offer the people of Darfur, let alone just insulting their nation on the internet, you aren't any friend to them at all.

It's not about the people of Darfur at all, it's about racist Americans being rude to people to make themselves feel superior.

Freedom of Speech and the global media.
In the U.S. freedom of speech is held as a high ideal and basic human right. In my country, and in China, we do not feel the same way. We feel that people with no understanding shouldn't be heard, and that people being vocally counterproductive should be shut up.
So while in America it is a matter of morallity that people with no particular experience or understanding of the problems of Darfur should all be given a voice; and that any issue should be able to be voiced as loudly and globally as possible, the rest of the world does not.
So when you are in America and you want to make a big showcase of the problems in Darfur, please do. But when you come to here or to China, just shut up. We already know about Darfur, and you aren't exactly our best source of information about it. Why would you think we want to hear your opinion at all?
If you are unable to respect the cultures of others, please do not visit them, otherwise we may be forced to imprison you.

You come from a nation that did something about poland so do I?  Neville Chamberlain the Prime minister of England from 1937 to 1940 gave Hitler half of Checkoslovakia when hitler threatened to take it. The result of that was hitler taking the other half and eventually taking Poland. The fact of the matter is, you do come from a nation who helped Poland when they needed help,  You come from a nation who helped France when they needed help, your nation helped evacuate as many french and english military forces from france as they could in the battle of dunkirk, many of the boats used were civilian craft with civilian crews which is something extraordinary to say the least. You also come from a nation who lost 380 thousand soldiers and 67 some thousand civilians in the war. Well I come from a nation who lost 416 some thousand men and women fighting the same enemy you were fighting. And i dont appreciate your implying America did not help the world during the war.  Americans fought and died in great numbers next to soldiers and civilians from dozens of nations around the world. Next time please choose not to trivialize such a great sacrafice.

Also all the world powers ignored the holocaust dont talk like they cared. Beating Germany was all they cared about.

I am sorry, folks.  I should have stayed away.  I would have stayed away.  As it so happens, though, I cannot.  It is not because of myself that I return.  No, you find me here because of the sublime quality of Baff's writings.

I liken reading Baff's posts to reading a poem from Alfred Tennyson.  I'm sure you're familiar with him, Baff.  He was one of the greatest poets produced by your country, perhaps one of the greatest of all time, a man of enough skill and inspiration that almost all English-speakers across the world know at least a few phrases that he wrought.

He would begin many of his works by describing simple things.  He would take the mundane details that we ignore and elevate them, building from there like the rising of a symphony.  With blackest moss the flower-pots / Were thickly crusted, one and all; / The rusted nails fell from the knots / That held the pear to the gable wall.  And on he goes to tell a story as much about beauty as sorrow.

Like him, your works start with mundane details, and like him, you build from there.  Except, rather than eventually reaching great heights of beauty, what you say rises to towering pinnacles of stupidity and presumption, shining like a beacon of inanity, attracting your fellow imbeciles like moths to a flame.

Do you want to know arrogance?  Arrogance is you thinking you know me or my country.  America is not a small place.  We have three-hundred milion people with our largest ethnic group not comprising a majority of the population.  You have sixty-million people in an over ninety percent homogenous society.  I'm only pointing this out to remind you that American political and cultural views are not monolithic.  There are probably far more Americans who agree with you than Britons.

Beyond that, what do you even know of me?  My blood happens to flow from a country that yours oppressed for its own petty economic gain.  Just a few generations ago, your people would machinegun mine in the streets for protesting.  I don't hold any of that against you.  A recruit called me Osama when I was in boot camp because of how I looked.  I didn't hold that against him.  I was living in the Middle East a few years back, and the day after 9/11, somebody there told me that America simply got what was coming to it.  I didn't hold that against him, either.  Why?  I knew that he wasn't an evil person.  He was just so blinded by his political views that he wasn't letting himself see the human cost.  I understand that things aren't black and white.

But Sudan isn't even an issue of lives.  It's not an issue of morality.  Much more is on the line there.  You see, one thing your country has consistently failed to grasp are the lessons which should be learned from history.  The last time there was a major test like this one, your country was the world's ascendant power.  You had a choice.  "Respect the decisions" of another nation and let it do whatever the Hell it wants, or stand up and say something.  Munich in 1938 was the result of that choice.

But yes, entirely different situations.  In each case, you had a rising power that seemed much weaker than the established world leaders, doing something corrupt for the sake of securing resources.  In both cases, the nearly totalitarian regimes had killed millions of their own people and had already annexed neighboring countries under the pretense of it having been their territory all along.

But yes, we should say nothing because we're filthy Americans who think we're always right.  I'll tell you something, Baff.  I'd rather be an arrogant blowhard who makes something of nothing, than to look at the new generation twenty years from now and have to tell them that we said nothing for the sake of politeness and ended up arbitrating the second Munich.

Oh, and since it's the Olympics, it did bring back special memories of how polite your country is, Baff.

Here's a picture that will make you proud to be a Briton.  It's your countrymen graciously honoring their Olympic hosts.

I'm sure the person who ordered them to do that had the exact same thoughts as you.  Just so you know, the scandal in your country about marching orders for British athletes while in China?

The exact same things your country's Olympic Committee told British athletes in 1938.

Who the hell said im from the USA, and who told you im in favour of death penalty? you are all a bunch of kiddies arguing which country did the most bad things(while posting evidence of wikipedia, lol) and being proud of your imaginary lines drawn on the earth while jumping to conclusions without reading some BOOKS about the subject first, im registered to this forum since 2006 and i had to make my first posts on this thread to tell some of you your mentality is DAMN BACKWARDS and because people like you humanity is not going in a good direction, but what do you care? you live in a box. some of your arguments of this thread are so on the level of  an high school  i wont even bother refuting them, also because i've lost hope in most people anyway.

Blacken I reported your post.    There was no need to post such graphic images.    People are executed in many countries using different means.   I think that is one of the most humane ways myself...but there is still no reason to post such images.    None at all.

That guy had balls. Very serious balls. Patrick Henry would've called that man a brother for sure.

No matter how many times I see that picture I am astounded by how courageous that guy was.

Here's a picture that will make you proud to be a Briton.  It's your countrymen graciously honoring their Olympic hosts.

I'm sure the person who ordered them to do that had the exact same thoughts as you.  Just so you know, the scandal in your country about marching orders for British athletes while in China?

The exact same things your country's Olympic Committee told British athletes in 1938.

    lol your comments are priceless^^

but face the reality...nobody cares about country who cant manage weakened iraq

    USA is weak..face it:)

and you can't even control tiny islands that you claim are yours.

china is hell, you go there to watch your son coach an olympic volleyball team and you get stabbed to death while siteseeing.

trust me if the usa was weak, you and/or russia would make sure we weren't around anymore. but you can't. you would be obliterated off the face of the planet, and thats a fact.

now get back to work and go farm me some gold for 5 cents an hour.

though im 98% sure you are fake chinaman here to just stir up crap. or else you would have used up your government alloted online time, and been beheaded by now.

and btw im born/raised in ceske im not a native american. 'money are irrelevant' there too if you get away from prague a bit. but you wouldn't want to if it wasn't for the US, because we would still be slaves to communists.

Calling people stupid and using ppl instead of people is stupid. As for the US's education system k-12 may not be as great across the whole country but the higher education is outstanding.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms
