I never understood the 'Apologists'. I guess this is the Heaven's Gate and Aum Shinriku demographic. Public schools really need to start teaching critical thinking again.

Well frankly Funcom is not great at computer development.  AO shows that and they reused the AO engine for AoC.

Maintaining the code of the AO engine is probably a nightmare.
Nobody left even has the souce code. I knew aoc would be in bad shape they decided to reuse the dreamworld dino.

Want to know the real reason? The engine is an upgraded version of the AO engine. Thats a problem already. Couple that with the fact most of the coders that know the engine aren't working for the company anymore.

So, bad engine to start with, plus inexperienced people working with it, equals fail.

I* have to agree with an earlier assessment they don't listen to players now so what makes you think that they listened then and besides I honestly didn't hear all this hype to rush the game to release you seem to have convinced yourself existed.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

No one makes "anyone" do anything. It was Funcom's choice to release it when it did, they CHOSE the release date. No one was putting a gun to Erllington or whatever his name's head telling him to release it on that certain date.

    What a silly post.

Which means theyre improving the game and its not so bad.

"Edit" They really cant be out of money if they added some new things a week after launch

Ok you are certainly wearing rose colored glasses but besides that you have to be either new to mmo's or the biggest aoc fanboy ever.

Oh, wait, your point is that they released it too early and completely bug-ridden with no features because players wanted it
That's... really not how things work. They likely released it because they needed a return on their investment / were running out of cash / needed a quick buck before folding like a cheap garden chair sat on by John Candy

Off thread for sure but I can't help it. You referenced John Candy! That is amazing!!!!

    Long live Uncle Buck!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't really intended as a "Troll" or... whatever kind of kitchy internet slang you want to use, but... Why do you, Arthousesig, even write any body of text to your posts regarding this variety of threads?

All you, personally, have to do is tell people to look at your account picture beneath your name... and they'd instantly know that if the discussion is trying to be positive about... and-or defend AoC... that you're in immediate disagreement with them.

Might just save you some time by not having to have you write anything.

Friendly advice, is all that applies to the rest of you who're using that Account Picture... silly as it is.

Are you saying that his post was in any way not-totally-idiotic (it really is idiotic, but if you would care to defend it, I would love to hear your rationale)?

Or are you saying that I should... not criticise? Let's face it, this is a MMO discussion forum, if I weren't able to call out someone else's post when it's complete drivel, what would be the point XD

Or maybe you find my posts too predictable because you see my avatar, hence are bored by them... in which case you could, of course, skip them.

I look forward to your response,

    Signed,

Predictable guy who should just stfu

Yep, blame the players.  Players are the ones who wrote poor code, who left out what was advertised, and took over 3 years to develop a broken game.  Please...

    Tecmo Bowl.

Yeah, it's the players and beta testers that screwed up Age of Conan. Funcom and their investors had nothing to do with it releasing early.

Oh oh oh, dont forget they spend FIVE YEARS in development for this game!

Back to topic, in my opinion they push the game out just so they can get those crazy box sales and use subscribers as testers for the game. The reason is, they need money and they cannot delay the release date. Why? They know they just cant beat other big mmo names that will release at the end of the year. WAR, Wotlk, Aion...etc. So their only opinion is to push the game out and get as much people buy this POS as pros.

Iti s because they didn't finish it and didn't test the high end content.  It isn't even funny how much more testing WAR has gone through than AOC at this point and WAR still has a month before release.
