First a bit of background:
Alright, my girl and I have been playing WoW now for over 2 years together (by myself since release) and the expansion really ruined the feel of casual raiding for us. We had to quit a long standing guild that we called our "online family" over too many people getting bit by the "go faster bug". Making our friendly endeavors... not so friendly.
Anyway, we realized last night that we both are tired of WoW and want to do play something else. Unfortunately, she's quite a picky gamer. Where I'll play anything fun, she needs something that handles like WoW, I guess. However, she hates PvP and won't play another game that favors it (like how WoW has been doing the last year-ish). Can you help me find something she may like?
Here's the games we've tried together and what she thought of them:
EQ2: Hated the blending of graphics
Guild Wars: No jumping, too much instancing, not a "real" MMO.
DDO: Felt like a Guild Wars clone in many areas
FFXI: Effin' horrible gameplay/graphics (I agree with her)
AoC: She loved how it looked/played, but hated the lack of content and emphasis on PvP
EVE: Feeling of detachment, no immersion from a spaceship
WAR: She seemed interested, but again... PvP/RvR heavy isn't her thing.
Vanguard: She hated the graphics/bugs/stability
I'm getting close to my wits end on thinking of games that we can play together. I know there's stuff like Champions Online, DC Universe and The Agency in the future that she thought looked cool, but we're lookig for something to play now, instead of later.
We have a small list of games we're gonna try out this month, but any other suggestions would be more than welcome.
Stuff we'll be trying:
LOTRO
Tabula Rasa
CoH/CoV
AoC (again, after the next content patch)
P.S. Neither of us like the korean "me too" MMO's like flyff, maple story, etc.

Out of those options i think she'll like lotro, if not... im afraid you guys'll have to wait until WAR comes out
GL on your search
LOTRO is probably your best bet.
LOTRO and WAR imo. LOTRO is a great game all around, plenty to do at all levels. WAR i can tell you has alot more to do then just rvr all day. There is a ton of info out there on this. Anyways thats just my opinion.
She got to see alot of War, and liked it.
But like I said. She'd want to never touch the PvP mechanic. And that would be hard to do in War.
I'm hoping she'll like LOTRO. I didn't months ago when I played it, but maybe I'll feel differently with a built in "Player 2". :P
Question for ya, did you 2 get AOC for it s pve?
Yup, sure did. That and the story. We're both big fans of the Conan legacy. I'm a casual PvP'er, but my fiance just hates PvP immensely.
I am quiting WoW for pretty much the same reasons...
I have been playing LOTRO for awhile now and it's pretty good. PvP is available if you want but not the main focus.
I've seen things, you...people, wouldn't believe... . Attack ships on fire, off the shoulder of Orion... . I watched C-Beams, glitter in the darkness near the Tannhauser Gate... . All those...moments will be lost in time... . Like...tears...in the rain...
Time to die.....

My wife and I quit WoW a while ago as well. We felt like raiding was not being given the attention it needed, and Blizzard's refusal to acknowledge small-group play as viable outside of PvP is frustrating.
Personally, I think you guys will enjoy either LotRO as was suggested above, or City of Heroes/Villains.
LOTRO should be good for her. But also look at COX I played beta through the first 2 years before I moved on and they have one of the better communities for grouping and just having fun not a lot of high pressure players. Heroes and Villain sides are both pretty fun. And you don’t have to PVP if you don’t want to.
I actually picked up two copies of CoV for $6 shipped off eBay earlier this week. I thought that would be a good option for her to check out too. We have a friend who's 50 in that game, but he said there wasn't much to do when you hit max level. Is that true?
There is no such thing as a good mmo unless you wait for biowares mmo. Play single player games they have more fun gameplay without ass holes talking to you.

Well there is allot of RP that goes on as I remember. It takes awhile to hit level cap if you only play 3 or 4 hours a day. Hell it took my wife two days just to do her costume for her main when she played. All in all with the current content you would be good for 6 months to a year before it got old I would think.
your fiance is hard to please !
most game you listed are some of the best you can get right now
I wouldn't say hard, but definitely challenging. She wasn't an MMO player before she touched WoW. Now she loves the online social interaction, and sense of accomplish that community/guilds can bring a player.
I've convinced her to install CoX today. Next month, LOTRO and then back to Conan or Tabula Rasa.

Err...if you like the social style kind of game, thats basically what SWG can do, nothing else but it's a fun game for social stuff. But hmm...if she liked WoW nothing really is social like that...could wait for Warhammer and see? Even tho I doubt it :P
