World of Warcraft is the most succefull game in MMORPG game ever. At the current state WOW has about 10,9 Subs world wide and with the WOTLK to become true in a few months the most propably is wow to increase its numbers.
Do you believe that smg could stop this in near future?
After the fail of AOC to decrease WOW numbers (except the first week of AOC launch that almost everybody was trying AOC) do you believe that others new MMORPG could decrease WOW subs.

hehe
I'm thinking that if any game will have a direct effect on WoW subs, it will be WAR because of the similarities.
However, it really doesn't matter to me as long as I have people to play with in whatever game I'm playing
They will Decrease because of AOC will be fixxed by Funcom
Ahahahahaa, wait a minute, ahahahahaah
untill the game becomes truely out of date i dont think the subs will ever drop substancialy. its subs may wax and waine, but its the most successful mmo for a reason, its a very well made game. some people my argue that certain parts of it dont work for them, but to the masses its still the standard. i myself played for awhile and stopped for various reasons, and there are defintly things about the game i dont like or think should be changed/improved, but 2 months after i stopped playing i got the erge again and now im right back in azeroth
other than playing X years new b-ball game alll year long till the new 1 came out ive never played a game as long as i played wow, and when i first started playing i was sure id get bored of it after a month, but 7 months later i was still playing.
I think they'll decrease but not significantly... there'll be an increase spike for a couple of months around WotLK release but when people realize it's more of the same they'll leave again.
I feel that there is little doubt that WAR is going to cut into WoW's subs but when you have 10 million of them who really cares? I think a safe number is somewhere between 500k- 750k will permanently defect over to WAR from WoW. The Asian markets for WoW, especially Russia will help prop up the subs for a long time.
Eventually WoW will lose subscribers every game does but the difference is if you look at games out there running on 200k subs then it will be a very looooooooong time before Wow gets to this point. Unless of course this incredible game comes out that just knocks the socks off of people, which I do not see anytime soon or Blizzard releases a new MMO.
Even with a new MMO from Blizzard doesnt mean a loss for WoW, especially if they implement something like SOE station pass.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

They will decrease with the launch of WAR but will go back right where they were if not more when WOTLK will launch.
I don't expect WoW to continue climbing the way that it is, forever. I see the genre heading in a direction where there will be several top games at one given time. Of course WoW is going to have the highest subscriber count for a long time to come, but nothing lasts forever. When Age of Conan came out, they lost a good chunk of players, and only gained a fraction of that back. AoC is doing well and is healthy right now. Warhammer will come out and people will go to that, also. Aion will come out, and more people will go to that too. It's a cycle that's inevidable with how many really good games will be out at 1 given time, now. It's just a matter of time to see the numbers settle in.
The numbers will increase again with the release of WoTLK, although probably at a slower rate than with BC. I don't think you'll see a significant amount of change with the release of War. Most of the people that are going to try War have already quit playing WoW. Most of the people who are still playing WoW are not going to quit playing WoW when War is released, they may play both for a short time and perhaps eventually quit WoW, but not right away and even if they do quit WoW, WoTLK will bring many of them back at least for a month or 2 to try it out.
I am just curious if you actually believe everything you typed above. The reason I asked is because no sane person would claim this.
AoC doing fine and healthy.... This is simply not true.
AoC took a huge chunk of wow players.... This is also simply not true.
Warhammer will be released and yes as Pappy stated a lot of wow players including myself will play both, but I see myself quitting war before wow.
WotLK with it's vast impovements will only bring in more subs, on top of that it will as pappy stated bring some that quit wow back to try it.
You will see a slight decline maybe for War release, but a HUGE leap foward on WotLK release.
WoW has a good 5 years or so left in it before it even thinks about going on a steady decline.
Furthermore if blizzard decides to put those billions it makes off the game to good use and make more content for WoW in the next 5 years and upgrade wow's engine you will see it strive on for many more than 5 years.
Dead on. The people who are going to play Warhammer have probably already quit WOW. They played AoC and now are just waiting for Warhammer. There may be more people who try warhammer, but they probably won't cancel their WoW accounts unless Warhammer is really good.
The big question is if Warhammer will succeed. They have to have a very VERY good first month because any kind of fiasco and WoTLK is staring them in the face.
If Warhammer is good, then WOW will hit 11.5 million shortly after WotLK
If Warhammer is bad, then WOW will hit 12 million shortly after WofLK.
No matter how you slice it.. WoW is going to have a big bump with Wraith. The other thing is that there is not going to be another major game released for a long long time... probably the Bioware game in 2010.
Bunch of people i work with are just getting into WoW.
I think its gonna keep growing. People like fun games, and World of Warcraft is fun for the people who don't devote an extreme amount of their life to a video game.

Decrease in North America maybe but I believe they have released realms for Russia and Spain. Perhaps we will see an increase of players in europe.
WoW will not decrease for a long time. WAR might be able to take a very small chunk (I'm guessing at the very highest 500k total subs after it's first three months) of WoW's subscribers, them making, I would guess, half of them. so 250k total taken would be my guess. But with the way WoW inflates, and with this expansion, that's going to be small change. The highest I can see WoW becoming is 15 mil... at that point it would be a standstill. I see WoW as a block of jenga blocks. It's all a matter of how tall you make the building and what blocks you take out that will make it tumble down. And like they say, the bigger it is, the harder it falls.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
They will substantially increase with the addition of the new expansion pack.
WAR is attempting to time it's release to nowhere near co-incide with the release of the expansion pack as this would cripple it's sales.
The one thing WOW is doing right is that it isn't really changing itself drastically. SWG, AC and UO (age of shadows).... all got to a point where the devs decided to drastically change the gameplay of the entire game. With every major MMORPG to date, most people can name a single expansion that was the 'death' of the game. As long as WOW doesn't change itself, it wil continue to grow... it'll become the myspace of MMORPGs
All MMo's slowly lose subs. WoW just has a high turn over rate, and is incredibly popular game in China yielding almost half of their subscriptions in just one country. As one country declines another catches it. Until they change the basics of the game people will be happy with the grindfest repeated every year to 2 years it seems.
They found a winning formula and winning formulas don't just drop within a few months. It will be the 2009/2010 releases that will finally pull enough subs from WoW for it to be noticable. I figure by then people will be bored of leveling up to 90 or 100 and just quit after realizing they waisted years of their lives without any new content being added.
I think the difference is that WOW has entered the point where it's a part of life, not taking away from life. There are a ton of very casual people playing this game.. and the ones that are buyng the boxes now are also more on the casual side. I have a friend who has played since last summer.. she has a lvl 33 druid.
The powergamers are the 500k players that jump from game to game.. WOW has long since stopped worrying about them. WOW had a southpark episode...99% of the population has never heard of Warhammer.
WoW subs will decrease because of War , Altho WoW will still be King War will have 2-3 million subs 1 year from launch many will be ex WoW .... War is coming and WoW will feel the bite.
Yes, this will happen, I have forseen it. The day Darkfall is released, WAR will announce 3 million subscribers.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
you're as funny as blizzard's ideas are original.
They'll increase, because there're too many jerks out there that are willing to pay blizzard for nothing.
There are MMOs and there is wow, these two markets dont belong together.
