Well I like and enjoy AoC but I would not vote for it.
The fact is games in unfinished and I would not promote it with all this promotion all you get are lots and lots of haters and who could blame them.
Tell the fact, tell what you really like and enjoy and dont forget to tell all downsides like:
- client performance (on same machines regardless of what configuration they have )
- client stability ( more or less applies for everyone .. those with 4GB ram will have less problems )
- lots of critical bugs like damage gem stucking one 1 shooting players, none working skills, none working sieges etc...
- lack of meaningful end game content
- and more
What I enjoy:
- very fast paced combat where player skill mean something ( latest gem stucking bug is ruining PvP )
- items dont make big impact on the pvp
- ability for killing a player 15 to 20 levels above you
- great quest and imerrsion especially for first 20 levels ( where all quests have voice overs )
- general core design and engine is great and with lots of polishing and feature adding it will defenetly be on of top 3 games on market ( together with wow and war ) -> if they start doing things faster
- and more
To who I would not recommend game at this point:
- if you dont have quite new PC ( more then 2 years old .. and then should be like top notch )
- If you are a hardcore gamer who really plays a lot and need something to keep him busy for 8h per day
( you will reach max level pretty fast then you really need to have nervs of steel to stay or start leveling alt )
- if you want some great pve raid content like WoW have
- if you loose your nervs quickly couse expect some client crashes
The main problem now is that game was so overhyped ( like some other upcoming games are too ) and lot of players really wanted it to succeed and once they reached max level they were fustrated due lack of end game but still playing till the point they really started to hate the game for it.
Age of Conan its far from finished ( and even more far from being polished ) so if you wanna give it a honest try it would be best to wait for at least 2 months ( if not more )
p.s. Dont listen to fanbois or hatebois ->the truth is somewhere in the middle

I have a feeling this thread isn't going to help like he expected.
I can't even believe AoC made the nominations.
That speaks volumes about the state of this genre right now.
I voted for AoC for 2 reasons...1 its not nearly as bad as the trolls are trying to get everyone to believe and 2 its pretty much the same as the games some of these same people are using as examples of greatness.

The majority dislike it? you have some proof to back up statment I assume? 50 ppl making multiple hate posts does not equal proof of majority
All I know is when I log in, there are plenty of people playing and where a month ago there was alot of complaining, along with alot of just general jerkyness in chat...now there is alot less complaining, and the community seems alot more laid back and nice...
Makes me wonder of there isnt some connection between the jerks and complainers.

Common sense is an awesome thing dude. And anyways Blizzard said that 40% of their players that left to go to Conan came back, and I know there are tons of others who are just waiting for WAR.
Look everywhere around you though, very few people on all kind of sites are defending this game anymore. You are the minority believe it or not.

I just voted for AoC becasue.
I love the fully implemented pvp system. This was a vote decider, imagine having a pvp game with no pvp.
I love the fully explorable world. Sometime I just like to go off the beaten path and explore Hyboria in all its beauty
The pve dungeons were another decider. They are so well done. Anyone who says its just 30 packs of copy paste trash before an innane tank and spank bugged boss are just crazy.
The vote decider for me was the amazing crafting system AoC has. It goes into so much depth, and not since the days of swg (5 years ago) have I seen such a immersive crafting system adding to the superb economy.

Please tell me what people see in this game thats so good, becuase I must of missed it. Sure if you have a great guild it does help, but id rather play snakes and ladders than aoc with my guild.....and it would be more fun.

I voted AoC for everything that it apply. Why? So it can trick others into buying this game, so I dont feel that stupid as one of the people got scammed by Failcom for their AoC box sales.

I quote "it's not nearly as bad as..." that is not the way you start out a sentence for any game worthy of an award. "It's pretty much the same...". It's not the same, it's not better, but it's "pretty much" the same.

If something is "pretty much the same" as a something that is great then it means that it is the same as 'great' or a little less than great or better than 'great'
And if something is great or just less then great, or more than great, then he beleives that it is worth voting for, Kapish?
