default Bogus Bans? Bugs in game make you appear to hack.



I've seen a billion threads of people getting banned for running 3rd party software when they pvp. Doesn't Funcom know about the flaws and bugs in their own game that makes it possible to appear to be hacking when the person isn't?



First, does anybody NOT get the bug sometimes when alot of pvp is going on and someone will hide when you had them targeted and a small shadow appears on the ground below them which you can SEE! I see this every night and most of the times I won't go after them because I'm afraid of /petition magic. Sometimes, this happens when people hide with sheild of the risen on them. It's just crazy as I've seen many people banned for hacking for "being able to see hidden players"



Second, the stamina bug where you can run and run with 0 stamina. Also, this is a bug in the game itself and has nothing to do with 3rd party software. Has FC even thought about adressing this?



Third. Most people don't realize that certain AOE skills will reveal them and party members to other players. IE "They hack! They revealed everyone! HACKS!" aren't really true but just assumptions.



Now there are a ton of other bugs I'm sure I don't know about and I'm not defending any of the @ssholes out there that have been banned legitimately for hacking and whatever. I'm just saying that in order to not get banned in this game for merely playing it is a very hard thing to do seeing as to what state it is in at the moment. You can't sit on a building or you are laughably "exploiting terrain". You can't pvp for fear of some kid crying because he's but hurt over getting his ass handed to him. FEAR the almighty /PETITION.



I've never had anyone /petition on me before and hopefully it won't happen but the same highhanded BS the GMs are doing here they did in UO. Shoot first and then ask questions later. I'm really just wondering why the GMs are doing this with little or no proof. As it stand a whole guild on my server has been dedicated to some banned hacker(which is very gay IMHO) that the people thought was unjustly banned. It's just getting stupid. I came to play the game not worry wether or not everything I do is against the laws of the game.

    I don't think there is a "they". I seriously doubt FC even reads the boards. Hell, are they even aware they have a NA forum?

    FC either a) Have no clue what is going on in the community or their very own boards (inept); or b) Don't give a shit.

    Just play the game and if you do something that gets you banned send an email or pm us and we will be rude and / or ignore you. But whatever you do, don't talk about game flaws in the official forums, this is only a place to say how much you love the game. If you have complaints don't call us, instead we suggest you call your mother and ask her to give you a juice box and tuck you in for a nap because we don't care.

    So what exactly are the forums over there for?

    Game correspondents ?

    Really two weak posts imo, the guy is at a total loss as are many people that still play AOC.

    More talk on the problems by the OP might actually HELP some people from getting banned... sounds logical to me.

    I can picture so many new players just getting banned without a clue here.

    Most of the problems just occur like the 0 stam bug, unless your 10% of the community as so many fanbois state that read the forums there are like 90% of people that are clueless these are banneable offences.

    The OP makes very valid points.

    He is a punk kid that has been mistakenly given a position of authority, who flaunts and abuses it openly, with zero consideration for anyone other than himself.

    Funcom is such a joke, they have there heads so far up there asses that they cant even see how there own staff (volunteer or not) contribute to the slow death of there already piss poor title.

    I don't normally respond to your "I'm only reasonable person in the AoC forum" troll posts, but in this I can tell you I have seen almost an exact variation of this post many many times in WoW forums.  Especially in regards to BG exploits.  The mods have let them go on or in some cases merely gave direction as not explicitly stating the details of the exploit and merely saying something like "the terrain exploit" so that people cannot easily replicate it from the boards.  On the occassion where people did mention etails the thread were locked or deleted.  Only in those cases generally.

     

    You are the one over reacting not the people you ciriticsize with simple one sentence universal statement and no real argument.  Stones and glass houses.

    I really dont think the OP of the AOC forum was baiting. He/she was expressing true concerns and legitimate ones.

    This is how Funcom handles it.

    Sorry to be a bit tongue in cheek but i think the op has a point and it should be discussed... not pushed into the too hard basket and treat everyone like immature pre-teens.

    On release the game was MA i beleive.

    He doesn't describe a single exploit, only bugs and things that might be construed as exploits and could get people unfairly banned.

    Show me any other game that will not publicly communicate with their player-base the existance of such exploits [or potential exploits] and then blanket-ban players for continuing the practices [many in ignorance] without so much as a warning in-game or a mail to communicate what they were banned for?!?

    There are sooo many requets on the AoC forums asking if certain things are as expected or not, and all they get is the thread closed without a complete answer - do those players continue or not??  Should they have to risk a ban based on poor communication.

    Example; I am driving a car around a track - i see a short cut so I ask the track official if it is ok I take the short cut - he replies  "sorry mate, can't talk about shortcuts".  So I take it anyway - and after rejoining the track - he runs over me with a Monster Truck shouting BANNED!

    Although i cant link to those links Boobalo, im not here to bash Lufkin ... really. Its more the fact that this is the correspondence you will expect from the AOC forums.

    Consider it some correspondence from a non-official correspondent.

    Just erks me that they treat their paying customers like this. I wouldnt be surprised if the OP just throws it in with that activity from ole Loofy.

    well, sry the links are broken but im not here to jump on bashing bandwagons. its the aoc forumites are not only having their threads rampantly banned for obscure and pointless reasons but he is also making snarky comments belitling people and they are up in arms about it. i didnt know who he was untill i saw some of the posts here informing of his poor moderation and then witnessing it myself on the aoc forums. it only supports the fact that funcoms biggest flaw is communication, its either poor or nonexistant and while the moderators may be volunteers they are representitives of the company and to talk down to paying customers is the worst thing you can do. he is doing so and getting called out for it . he even was an ass to someone who actually had something good to say about conan
