This will hopefully be very exciting stuff... I think I'll actually set a reminder to make sure I tune in and not miss it. STO is using IP that's just as sacred as Star Wars or Lord of The Rings. I'm really hoping they pull this game off with strong quality

Yea Cryptic has a hard road making this. I am a bit sceptical myself as it already looks a bit cartoony.

I just hope they go for a bit more realism in the graphic style. I don't think STO will work well trying to appeal to kids.

Cryptic just got the rights to the game a few months ago (after Perpetual went out of business).

That means that if they are already showing gameplay, its nothing more than what PE had already completed.

Point being, a segment of the Trek fans (that play MMO's and post on forums) were already extreamly upset by PE's work on STO.

from Jack Emmert on The Associated Press (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5ikj6V-CYYWISldz8cmkiJ9avC11QD92E92UG0)

"We had a friendly relationship with them," Emmert said. "As it became apparent they weren't going to continue to function, they decided to sell off the license. We swooped in and grabbed it. We took no assets. There was nothing to be had, to be honest. We're building everything from the ground up."

I have tons of respect for Cryptic Studios and I trust them with STO. I may be a HUGE Star Trek fan, but I know I will like it way more better than if PE actually did complete it, cuz that version was just garbage.

Yeah, that doesn't really attract me. Seems like there is going to be very little interaction between players in this game.
