... what level in game are you? Serious question. A guy made a thread asking those who didn't like the game to post the level they got to, and I'm curious as to those who enjoy the game what level they got to/are currently.

Honestly i got to 75 on an assassin.

I quit because i could see the writing on the wall and couldnt see any reason to continue to 80 since i had been on heaps of Raid runs with my guild via apprentiship.

I left the game with heaps of purple gear ready to wear still left in the bank.

Made a Ranger to 35, Tos to 30 a guardian to 17 etc. Usual fair.

My spider sences tingled from over 12 years of gaming and called it :/.

I played the game to level 15 before i quit.  My brother however made it to 80 and quit last month for one simple reason.  Nothing to do at 80.

  • NadrilNadril Member Posts: 1,276

Just to clarify I'm asking the people who enjoyed the game and are still playing, not the guys who quit. I know we're all disapointed. :P

  • NadrilNadril Member Posts: 1,276

Does anyone actually play this game anymore to post their level? (who like it)

  • jakkarsjakkars Member Posts: 207

I think he meant people that are not paid employees of Funcom Avery.

What do you usually do with your time while playing Avery? I mean, I noticed you have an alt but I'm curious if you take a part of any "end game" content and what that would be.

And if you don't and just level your alt, why? :P

Didn't release you wanted to know about the time too! thought I'd just state levels.

I have participated in a few sieges, also done Kyllikki's Crypt / champion of honorguard etc No Yakmar yet as it was bugged and now fixed I believe, I did go in on my own and got 1 hitted haha. Black Ring (wing 1) and Dragons Lair now thats working properly too a couple times.

I hang out with the wife a lot too. She has been ill last few months, so I just chill out with her and help her out most recently. There was 2 weeks I couldn't play due to graphical glitch's affecting my stats bar and didn't find it fun fighting without telling how much life I had left.

I am also working on crafting in Gem Cutter and Armorsmith and help get the wife some resources.

As for taking part in end game content - I think when the Extra Black Ring "wings" open up those raids look promising. Also as much fun as sieges can be, they can be a lagfest, so I tend now to just wait for a patch to fix them up. Don't get me wrong they sucked to begin with and getting booted out of a fight to Conall's was not fun, that got fixed but there is still stuff to do.

So really number 1 goal would be to take part in a working siege with as less lag as possible, and I have a kickass PC and i-net connection. Sorry for going off track a bit.

You think or you know? You're the official correspondent, you should tell us.

{ Mod Edit } Ask Erling how AoC is doing subscription wise. Go ahead, ask him. I'm sure he'll say that they've had 700k unique accounts.

While I am not in agreement with some of Avery's topics/responses, I do note that he replied inline with the original topic and followed up with some personal experiences that he could elaborate on to the best of his recollection.

The personal attacks/quips are not neccessary and do not further the OP's inquiry or keep the thread on topic.  If there is something constructive to counter Avery's statements; then it should be posted.

There's discussion and then there's hate mongering, I'd rather this community not fall into the latter category if it can be helped.

This is kinda sad in 12 hours there has only been one person post that likes the game and still plays it at high lvls....

I played to lvl 57 on an assassin and quit at that point.

    Our guild

    55 Guard, 48 conx, 24 as, 24 bs, 37 nec, 35 ran, 80 bar, 80 conx, 80 hox...many around 30.

IDK most of us are still playing because its fun. When its not, we wont...but so far this has been one my fav mmo's. I am one of the lev 20's so we will see. I just got off the phone with a 48 that loves it and wont go back to eq2. IDK some of us just like the game and can't wait for the BIG PVP update *taps foot scowling*.

I think ppl who like the game playes it and thats why you dont see them in forums, while ppl that dont play, is angry and bored so that what we will read in the forums.

So, I still play and I still enjoy it, but I only have a lv30 Guardian, lv20 Assassin and a few other lowbies to get the names I want.

I have been uber casual of late as...

    1. Real busy with work

    2. Playing Vanguard too

    3. Was completing non mmos like The Witcher and Mass Effect.

Really, I like Age of Conan. I have played WOW, COH, COV, EQ2, EVE, LOTRO and probably a few others I forgot about. WOW was the game I played for the longest time, followed by LOTRO - so that's my comparative context btw.

Well, I still play as I am not encountering all these bugs yet - only the gray map thingy once in a while and the odd lag spike.

I really love the graphics btw. Light years ahead of VG and WOW. Oh, and the music is so nice, especially in Stygia.

Anyway, I do have a beast of a machine so I can play on highest settings with bloom - it makes it a big difference to your visual experience. The artistic aspect of the game is beautiful, it really looks fantastic.

However, I have mainly soloed so far, a few world pvp run-ins which was fun but lacked structure. Just joined a guild and they are nice people.

Anyway, I am now on 3 weeks vacation so I will play a little more hardcore now.

    Regards

    Melmoth

Got to level 7 or so.  Cancelled first day; I could immediately see where this was going by the linear tutorial structure of the newbie isle.

Still, for some reason I cannot get AOC out of my head, and find myself blurting out around others stuff like, "It. It.  It is like a steak and fine wine.  The other games are like McDonalds," or, "Death never looked so hot."

Of course, people just stare, but when I tell them I played AOC, they seem to understand.

He 'works' for MMORPG, not for Funcom.  Just because this website appoints him a correspondent, doesn't mean that he is an employee of Funcom and party to their internal communication.

I am trying to be nice here, but how could you not understand that?  You think if someone is a Washington Correspondent for CNN that President Bush invites him to join cabinet meetings?

Back to the OP.  I have a level 28 and a level 30.  The content through level 30 is really great, better than any other game I've played (UO, EQ, AC, Horizons, AO, DAoC,  WoW, LOTRO, EVE, Vanguard, and a bunch of others).  Harvesting quests are becoming a drag, though.

Just as I thought, the last 4 or so people to post (except avery) all have guys around levels 20-40 or so.

Proving my point exactly, gotta love it.

A wine taster doesn't have to finish the entire bottle to know something isn't up to par.  Same with games.

Some of us are veteran gamers and can tell within the first hour, sometimes first minutes, of gameplay which direction the gaming experience will probably go.  For example, I knew that on Tortage, when the forest path was blocked by a tied-up girl, and that I could not proceed past her until I clicked through the obligatory dialogue boxes, that linear play-style was built in.

If I want a linear experience, I'll read a book or watch a movie.  But for gameplay, I want freedom.  I should be able to walk around that girl who was tied up in the forest path without talking to her if I so choose.

As far as the "you haven't played the game long enough" mentality, my experience is that I only hear that when folks are defending flagging games.  Great games lure people in and keep them there.

I am certain that if I stuck around and played a character to level 80 and still didn't like the game, there would be someone to tell me how foolish I was for continuing to play a game that I didn't like.  A person really cannot win with the folks who defend games like AOC (or Vanguard, for that matter).

Dude I'm not fucking defending the game, I think it's a piece of trash. Get some reading comprehension, the first post was asking the levels of those who STILL ENJOY THE GAME not those who didn't.

I find it funny because the game truely gets bad at the higher levels.

Howdy.. Where would you expect the following statement to come from?

"thanks! for those that purchased the game and currently play"

80 Necro - Deathwhisper My gaming peeps returned to their respective games, in my second guild, the 40 slot ventrilo is now barren..log in from time to time.

16 Assasin - Deathwhisper Started this fella mid way through the Necro's 50's stopped entirely when they removed the ability to farm lower lvl instances.

I could be much clearer on my experiences with sieges, pvp, stat gear, gems the economy..and quite a few more things that have reduced my opinion of the game but I've already been verbose on it. Largely the gaming friends abandoning the game after I urged them to join me. Damn, we tried. Very disappointed, Looking for something different to play via MMORPG..

Maybe for some but I know that isn't the case for me.  Whether I'm playing or not there is always time for 15-30 minutes to check up on the forums.  If I'm looking the game I'll say good stuff if not bad stuff.  Fact is if you look at my history in this forum going back to launch I was posting positive stuff and posted my review which was very positive.  As I leveled however my reviews turned negative as the game became increasingly unfun.
