Everquest online adventures, some questions.

AngelboundAngelbound Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,437

So I use to play eq a long time ago and never got into the console everquest and ive recently been doing some research because someone said in a forum its like classic eq atleast similar, so im wondering if this game is really worth me buying online considering it has an expansion?

Now I have a ps2 and never felt the urge to try anything online I do that on my computer, is there still a ps2 subcribtion fee?

I read on the ign review that bard speed songs are the speed of spirit of wolf has this not changed?

I also read they took out all the tradeskills and rp trade skills is this not changed as well?

And finally are they adding any free content or are there any plans for a expansion or remake on the ps3?

Thanks for reading my post everyone.

Did I ask this in the wrong boards or something? Maybe no one knows about everquest online adventures here hmmm.

It's been a while since anyones talked about EQOA on these boards. It's an old gem that not many people got into. It still has an active community and some devs, just not as strong as most MMOs.

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

the game was awsome back in like 2000 when it was very much alive, but its quite dead now with just some HC players using the PVP thing all day. i would have tottaly recomended this if it wasnt so old and basicly dead now. i would suggest looking elsewere now.

oh the good old days of EQOA, they were quite fun on my dial up, but its basicly gone now....they need to remake this or put out a new console EQ.....

I guess if you really like Everquest...I look back on my time with EQOA and really wonder what the hell I was thinking...I never once really had any fun, and mostly only just played because I felt the need to reach the next level and get a new pet for my necromancer...which happened to be the most gimped class int he game and almost always was unwanted for groups.  Once I got the pet that i saw at low level that I thought looked ultra cool I pretty much lost interest and quit, this happened at around level 35 or so.

Hmmm looks like I may be going the anarchy online route after all its the only other mmorpg that interests me since ive tried it already and loved it, just thought id like everquest online adventures more. But im not going to spend money and realize I need to pay a ps2 subscribtion fee as well as the everquest online adventures fee.

I forgot to mention, playing your ps2 online doesn't requre a fee, online xbox live does.

but you will need to buy a network adaptor if you don't already have one.

Ok thats good about the sub if you buy the smaller ps2's the newer versions you dont need a network adapter it has a ethernat plugin on the back of it ive already tried it:) Thanks for the tip though.

I actually fired the game up earlier this year, played it for a little while. The early zones definately have the ghost town feel to them. The game works well with the PS2 controller, and a USB keyboard. I did see quite a few people while I played. I only opened up the sub for a month.

a /who still shows people in your current zone.

The only sub fee you would need to pay is the monthly fee post the 30 free days that comes with the game provided you can find a new copy of it.

This was my first MMO, it's still a lot of fun, just needs more of a population. It really is a shame that Sony Online Entertainment isn't doing more to promote it. It also works on your PS3.

The game requires no hard drive, it primarily saves all of your settings to your memory card..

Idk about the rest of these replies you had but I still play this game everyday. I play 3 ps2's and my wife plays 3. We are in a guild called Cosa Nostra on the Castle Lightwolf server and the game is still very much alive! I have a lot of current guild raids posted to Youtube which I do almost every week.

There is still a monthly fee of $14.99 and we do get new content every 2-3 months! As of late they have been putting the gods into the Zoaran Plateau zone.

I recently read in PToM that SOE is exploring future development of Everquest on the PS3 and Smedly has hinted as well but nothing concrete yet.

If you loved Everquest you would love EQoA too!

I made a few links for you to check out to get you more in-line with our little community to make a better desicion for yourself but as for me I've been playing 6 years and continue to play every night!

Good luck 2 u in RL!

i just returned to this game having fun at it again. if you play it just start on clw there where most went anyway, clw seems to have as many people on it taht was on my old diren hold server back in the day.

eqoa has always had the best community of any game i've tried.eqoa takes place like 500 years before eq if i remember right. there is ALOT of ways to customize your character not graphics wise but builds and what not.

each class can choose from 1 of 5 master class choices, mages have almost double that. then you can get a were- infection if you want, like werewolf, werelion, weregator, werebear or wererat each haveing different boosts. or you can go out and get infected by a vampire wich also has its own plus and minuses. or become a werehunter. wish more games had a class mastery system like eqoa has always have soemthing to do if you raid or not can always inprove your class doesn't stop at 60.

recently added exp buff to the game wich helps alot and hunt and gather quest so if you're in a hurry to lvl doesn't take long at all anymore.exp buff is like 4x exp and only 1000 tunare can make that by the time your lvl 5 lasts 12 hours on the buff.

being a were is kind of a pain at times there are npc werehunters that will attack you in towns, and vampire has a dot on you during ingame daylight hours. but both give added abilities and buffs that make it worth it. tougher at lower lvls (can get infected at 30+) because the werehunters can one shot you if yuou're not paying attention. they'll cast a spell that roots and turns you into your wereform but if you remove it with a spell you have they won't attack but if afk you're dead..lol
