I am a PKER, but that is not the only reason I would play DF.
I would play because of the crafting, the open world, and the PvE.
It's a shame, all of the things DF says sounds great, too bad they can't prove any of it.

there going to at least they dont show its as faked... like aoc did. just give them a bit its isnt they cant prove it its they chose not too until its ready
I think you need to define what a PK is before asking people to choose.
Alot of people just take the meaning of the word Player Killer and believe it means anyone who occasionally kill other players. But originally, and this was way back in the UO and Meridian, era the meaning of PK was someone who relentlessly killed any other players who were outside of his guild, allies and friends.
Often they camped known leveling spots and/or choke points and killed everyone and everything in sight.
Which defintion holds true now its hard to say but I will still stick with the old definition. Because then an anti-pk, or pk.hunter, would make much more sense because those were the people who almost exclusively killed PKs as defined above.
Like the poster above said, PK comes from UO and EQ.
It means a player who camps zone out, city outs, bind points and goes on PK killing sprees in newbee area's. It means writing down names of who PK'd you and targetting the same player day after day until they leave the server.
I know DF players are into that apparently (but they don't know that has never worked) since "WoW is 4n00bs, and DF is l33t"....and all that.
But real PK is sad and everyone leaves real PK servers. WoW isn't real PK, EQ had real PK and it killed off the PVP server in EQ because no one wants to be around jerks.
I think the better question is how many low class losers will join just to sit around and make life for other players bad. Because this is exactly the style of game that atteacts them all.

I seem to remember the term PK being used in Diablo I before UO or EQ.
It made sense there: Attacking other players was not the norm even though you could if you wanted... So anybody who did that and killed a player was labeled a PK. It was particularly hilarious and a bit infuriating to get PK'ed by someone with whom you were running a dungeon
So PK'ing had a notoriety to it. You could collect a player's ear when you killed him/her. It was ordinary to see people go straight out of a "room" and into Battle.net chat to look for "bounty hunters" who would PK the PK that PK'ed them They wanted to see the PK's ear as proof
I think that was actually the first time I came across the term PK in online games. Of course there were MUDs and BBS door games, too, but I do not recall calling people PKs there... hmm.

What?
So if there is only 100% badass players in DF, who will be the PKers?
You cant think in WoW terms when talking about DF. There is no tanks, gankers, PKers, damagedealers or whatever they talk about in WoW.
Everyone will be equal, its up to you how much shit you wanna take or give. Same as in real life. And what is it whit this strange mentality "there will be bad people there, so i will stay away"? Why not hunt down all idiotes?
Lets say all RPers get togeather and wipe out all PKers in a city, Who is the PKer then??
I'm going to return to the glory days of Ultima Online - anally raping anyone who has anything I want, and making lewd gestures to make those emo carebears slit their wrists and quit the game.
At the end of the day, the only thing left will be the most elite players, and then the real game can begin.

I will PK PKers. So that is a No vote for me.
Then also remember that everyone is a PKer in DF. Its a game of war.
We're forced to PK, more or less. Atleast if you will defend yourself.

pkSlayde:
Your stats in your sig, how have you counted? 4.5mil PKs ?
4.500.000
365 days/year = 3650 days over 10 years.
4.500.000 / 3650 = 1250 PKs / day.
