Any impressions?

I want to know if this game will actually be worth pre-ordering.  After wasting my money recently on Age of Conan I am now paranoid whether or not this game will be worth the money.  Can anyone tell me if I should pre-order without breaking the NDA or breaking it?

I am not in beta, but enough beta testers have come here saying they cant wait to shut all the trolls up. So I'm guessing its going to be a verry good game. Mythic keeps saying they are in the polishing stage, and most current reviews and beta testers are agreeing and saying its got some bugs, but still one of the most polished game they have ever played for launch. So for me, I would say yes pre-order, get into OB and if you dont like it, cancel it. If you do like it, not only did you get a feel for the classes but you also get a couple day head start.

Game Spy has a great article about WAR and how its doing in closed beta. Its a good read.

I'm currently in beta and will have a nice long write up on what I have been noticing through out my time testing when the NDA is lifted (A week before launch, hopefully).

And you gotta go with your gut when pre ordering the game, In that aspect treat it like every other game you have tried, without buying into any hype of forums and you should be fine.

All I have to say to anyone is a half hour playing and you will drop whatever MMo you're playing for War.

I wouldn't go that far (no game will ever beat WOW's subscription numbers me thinks), I think it will be a breath of fresh air for those looking for a game where the characters don't look like they have been drawn with a Crayola crayon  but it won't take over the MMO world.

Different strokes for different folks (either you wil love it or hate it, simple as that).

*If you are not sure what breaks the NDA read the sticky, you guys are coming really close, don't make us take action here. Keep on topic, keep it clean*

I am in WAR beta and frankly WAR is like every MMO ever released which is to say its never worth pre-ordering.  Give the devs, community, servers time to flesh out and come in 4-6 weeks after launch.  I tend to find that more rewarding than competing for quest goals with the other 400K that started on day 1.

Actually AoC would be the exception here since its instancing meant the zone you were in would not be overpopulated.  Course it had other problems at launch.

Whether its fun depends on what is fun for you.

OP I'm sure you wont be dissapointed by WARs quality like you were with AOC.

AOC had tons of beta testers on so many forums trying to warn the people that the game is in a really bad shape.

WAR doesnt have anything remotely like that.

Its not hard to make an opinion... also NDA will be dropped very soon so it will be easier.

To be fair Mythic is a lot stricter about NDA even on the beta forums so testers who do this get punted... even if its done on the beta forums.  Kind of puts a large DO NOT LEAK across everyone's forehead that reminds them that posting opinions and beta state will get you kicked.

stricter than AoC? The game that never released the NDA? The game that censors their forums like it's a communist nation? I doubt that :)

I've been bored to death for the past week and constantly refreshed this forum and I haven't even seen 5% of what players tried to do with AoC to warn people, and when someone actually does it there are about 10 people saying their under NDA and wish they could tell them why their wrong. No bashing, no fanboyism... It's quite encouraging
