Well im still using my old Pentium 4 3.06GHz and ive decided its time for an upgrade.

i checked out what my mobo is, it turns out to be some old D915GAV or something? turns out that i will need to change that also. While changing that ill probably need to change RAM with the new mobo and CPU. Im wanting to spend only about 200-250 bucks and i've been looking at this.

Tell me what you think and/or any other suggestion please.

Also, i have never set up a computer or anytihng like that, and this would be my first time, so any help on that would be appreciated too!

(im located in Ontario, incase some places you might want to suggect dont ship or anything to Canada)

That's a rather old board, so it's probably using an AGP graphics card, right (or.. *shudder* integrated graphics)? That means you'll need to upgrade that as well since the board you want uses PCIe technology. Unfortunately, graphics cards are the most important (and most expensive) piece of equipment in a gaming computer today. For a budget graphics card, I'd recommend the ATI Radeon 4850.You may also need to replace the power supply, depending on if it can handle the loads that your upgrades would put on it.

As for the actual build, it's incredibly simple. All you have to worry about is ESD, and that risk can be reduced to nothing by wearing an anti-static wristband. If you don't have one and don't want to get one, just touch the power supply occasionally to put you and the case at the same electrical potential. Other than that just follow the manuals to the parts you're using.

As for the parts themselves, they're fine for a low budget.

It would be a bad idea to stick with an AGP card, you'll be in the same position in 6 months as you are now with no upgrade path.

Okay, I looked up the board and it does use PCIe, so yeah, you can keep that card.

Actually my suggestion was to upgrade the graphics card to a newer one because I thought your old board used AGP, but it doesn't, so disregard.

You should be good to go with just what you're getting.
