New Gaming System for Dummys (Me)

bomjbomj Member UncommonPosts: 184

I am interested in buying a new pc this week.

I am a complete novice at specing my own system.

I do not want to build it on my own, but want to spec it out to save some bucs.

The system I want should be able to play the latest high end graphics games for the next 2-3 years (ok to turn settiings down but has to be playable).

I would like to stay between $500-800.

Here is what I am thinking about:

This system is $718.  What do you think. Anything need fixing?

If this is a Ibuypower or Cyberpower, don't buy from them. The systems come with broken parts and they never replace them.

Try this one from Newegg, they honor replacements www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx

You guys are awesome giving me advice!  That system looks to be what I want.

    1. Do other people concur with the stay away from ibuypower directly and go through Newegg?

    2. Is this video card and processor going to be able to handle games for 2-3 years (min specs)?

2b. If not can I add in upgrades to keep from buying a new system?

NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB Video Card

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+

I concur not to go through iBuyPowerPC directly and go through Newegg instead.  Also you should be able to upgrade it in the future depending on the motherboard.  Its guarantee that in 3 years your system won't be performing as well as you want.  However, it will probably run mmos just fine for 3 years.

Here try this one, it is your best bet and has instant $200 off. Much better choice if you ask me.

The Nvidia GEforce 8800GT is a real solid and good graphic card and works for well every game i've played .

    I use it with:

    nForce 780i 3-way sli mtoherboard.

    Intel core 2 duo E8500 3.16GHZ Processor.

and 2 GB kingston 6400 RAM, also a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda hard drive works extremely good :D

I am also thinking about using the 3-way sli and put in another GEforce 8800GT 512mb.

I would strongly advice nVidia GEforce 8800GT 512mb you would not regret it
