ok so I just got a brand new computer spent a good chunk of change on it too. Well I decided that I'd try this game out so I buy the game. it installs just fine no problems. then I go to start it and it wont start because it cant innitialize the subsystem rendering. so I follow what the website said to do still didnt work.
SO here I sit wasteing 48 bucks and my precious time on a expensive drink coaster which it will soon become. The fact that after spending my money on a bradn new pc I am told I am still way below standard. hey I got an idea SCREW THIS GAME . I'd never sugjest playing a game where you have to be rich or have momy and daddys credit card to buy a 9 thousand dollar pc to run one dam game. total bs, and alread I can hear the spoiled little children telling me how I wasted my money on a pc...wel fit this in your head atleast I bought my pc with my money that I earnd at my JOB. so untill someone can explain to me why I sit here tired as hell after working a a night shift trying to try out a game I cant run unless I buy a 1,500$ graphics card. God I'll just play CoH/CoV and be done with it atleast it will run for me.

The sad thing is that you didn't even play the game. Try not feeling ripped off when you bought the game expecting everything they put on the box/advertised/boasted their game would contain just to find out that none of it would be implimented at launch. If its only been a few nights, I'd take the game back to wherever you got it and plead with the manager to give you your money back. Prolly won't work but its worth the shot, those AoC cds aren't even worth being called coasters or ninja frisbies.
its not so much that its only been about 4 hours since I bought it so I could take it back but the thing is I wanted to play it granted my factory graphics system is wierd even for me cause its a intel integrated pc so I have no clue I'd use my old nvidea but I'm sure it wont work either and it was dieing which was why I got this new pc. whats frustrateing is that even after going thru the trouble of buying this new machine I still cant play the game I mean come on tell me thats not some fragernaukle bs.
Holy....
The word 'integrated' right there is going to net you a world of hurt, in most games these days.
For what it's worth, regardless of the problems that AoC does have, it's your own responsibility to know what the system requirements are, and whether or not you actually meet them.

What can you say other than, "buy an xbox or ps3"?
Let me guess, you wasted $1,500 on a PoS prebuilt machine with integrated graphics. Awesome!

I'm going to parrot the poster that told you how BAD integrated cards are.
I don't care HOW new your PC is...unless you bought it from Alienware (in which case, you just spent 8000$ on a 1000$ rig), the integrated card is barely able to cope with games like WoW...let alone a high end game like AoC. You would literally need to buy a card and install it...it would need to be PCI-e and probably sport a minimum of 256, preferably 512, before you could run the monster.
AoC didn't rip you off...you just learned a very important lesson about using a PC. Anyone that lays a hand on one needs at LEAST a minimum amount of tech savvy. I would deeply suggest (no flame here, its very important you understand this) searching the web for information about hardware elements in your PC, and learn what motherboard you have and what type of ports are on it.
8800GT's can be gotten for close to $120 now.
You need to find if it will take a video card........Call the maker of your pc and ask.
Maybe a little more research into what you were buying BEFORE you bought it would have helped. Don't you know anybody that knows about PC's? Did you look at what the game required and then maybe checked to see if the PC met those requirements? Did you even post a question here, where I bet more than one or two people know about PC's, asking what to look for? Did you just buy a DELL because it was on sale and looked pretty? Sounds to me like it's not the games fault.
If you're trying to get a P.C. on a budget, you are better off just buying a base model pc with a good processor and hard drive and just adding your own ram and graphics card. It's easy to install ram and a card and overall you really get more for your money then buying an intergrated system that was prolly actually put together with gaming technology about 2 years old.
Not all who wander are lost...
NEVER buy a prebuilt PC if you are wanting to use it for gaming. The general public uses them for browsing the web, and e-mail not games which is why they suck for gaming.

you could spend around 400 bucks and be able to play this game. you dont have to be rich to play this game. You just have to know which stuff to get.
Please explain to me how on earth its AoC/funcoms fault that you didn't check the minimum spec of this game before buying your game/PC.
I'm not one to defend funcom they made a mess of the game but you are responsible for checking your system is able to play the game before you buy it, not the game developer, not the publisher and not the shop you buy it from YOU.
For future reference never expect an integrated card to run games especially new ones and as someone above suggested you can get good dedicated 8000 series nvidia card fairly cheap now the 9000 is out.
well no its no alienware and I dont have direct access to anyplace that sells graphics cards. Inorder for me to find a new card I'd have to drive about 62 miles. pluss as of right now i dont have the money nor do I know what the hell works because the 450$ nVidea card i do have in my old pc I'm not sure it will work anymore since its about 4 years old AND while this pc does have expansion slots I han't know if I can even get the dam thing to work. I bought a pc that I could afford excuse me for not haveing the 8,000$ to buy the great pc's everyone seems to have now. But I feel its dumb as hell that I have to spend craploads of cash that I dont have to play one single game and besides I can't play WoW anymore because it wont run on windows vista.
oh and for that poster that said to get a xbox or ps3 i have a xbox I just enjoy playing mmorpg's on a pc a bit more than playing cookie cutter bs games. So go ahead rag on me all day I do give a rats ass anymore I'm tired about to pass out from lack of sleep so far today and am starting to dispise the gameing world. I guess I dont see how anyone could be dumb enuff to say "oh I need to spend more money more dammit" and not feel like they took a pipe up the rear port.
I expected fools to just throw some crap at me but yet good help is hard to find. anyway I'm too depressed and pissed to care about anything right now so unless you have something usefull to say don't say anything.
Don't feel ripped off dude, think of yourself as lucky that you spent the 48 bucks and didn't have to waste your time playing this POS game. I did it and I think I feel more screwed than you do at this time.I actually had to play AOC, I think I just gagged something up. So enjoy the fact that you didn't get to log in and feel that pain that most of us had to feel playing AOC.
first off my rig only cost me somewhere aroudn $1000 and it can run just about any game out there right now, including AoC, but that game game got uninstalled fairly quick. Its all about knowing what your doing when you go shopping for a new comp, or like i did build it yourself. 2nd wow does run on vista.
Big case of UE and blame others.
btw a great site, although not always correct.

New pc or not, If you bought a pc to play some games on it,
never ever buy a pc with only an "Integrated" video chip/lcd monitor conector.
You pretty much always have to build your own pc or buy from a store, & then also have
a decent video card installed in it too, $300 range would work.
also might need to upgrade the system ram to 4 gig of ram too.
Mate why dont you post all your specs or better still do dxdiag and we can help you out with regards to a new video card,as people have sort off said here it is always best to get as much info as possible when buying a pc,I know a bit about pc's but it took me over 2 months of searching sites and asking questions before I handed over the cash for the pc I bought at the start of the year and I was on a budget of 1000 euro and came in at 4 euro under
Maybe doesnt help you now but maybe something to remember when you buy another new 1,Like I said why not post all your specs and people will help you with a new card and I think by the way you speak about prices you could be very pleasantly suprised at the price of a good gamming card.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Dude - take the PC back it sound like a piece of dooky, anything even remotely used for gaming should run AoC decently. Personally, I got a HP something 9250 - just go to best buy. It had an Nvidia 8600, which worked for AoC, but upgraded it to an 8800 for $172 a month later and if runs AoC very nicely.
I ran aoc in a pretty inexpensive system, but this was assembled by myself.
9600 Nvidia gt
amd 3700 (yes SINGLE core). 3700 has a fast fsb though and can overclock nicely.
2 gig ram.
Nothing fancy but runs like a champ. Unfortunatly the updates of AOC have made the game even more bug filled. Your better off returning the game as even with a hardcore system the game is still a unfinished bug filled mess. Not to mention Funcom has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

DuDe take a chill pill and READ what everyone has told you its all right above my post in text in the few dozen responses you have gotten.
1. YOU DID NO reserch on what you bought.
2. YOU HAD NO CLUE what you needed.
3. YOU HAVE NO CLUE what your talking about still after people told you what you did wrong.
4. CAME BACK and made even more of an ass of yourself after the information YOU can go look up is right here in front of you already.
5. FAIL FAIL FAIL.
6.FAIL 7. GIVE up on gaming and everything else go out and enjoy some sunshine and get yourself a tan.

It seems you just want to feel you are the victm, but you are not.
When someone with a high end ATI card has bad performance in AoC the blame is on Funcom.
When someone that lives in US and can acess internet for 5 minutes to chek wich cheap system would be nice to get buy a totally non gaming PC and blame Funcom or the game for that, it is clear to see who is the one to blame.
You live in US, it is easy to get a good video card for a low price and you know it.
You are not a kid, dont try to sound like one.
You could always search for a good tip about hardware in the internet.
You would need the same amount of money you used in your new PC to get a cheap gaming PC and play AOC, GOW,ME, War etc.
You should be pissed yes, but with yourself only.
...
Ermmm Grozfox. I spent roughly £1200 on my PC about 4 years ago. 1 year ago I bought and installed a GeForce 7900 graphics card for about £70. It runs every game I buy perfectly fine. You dont need $8000 (£4000 in my case) to get a computer capable of running todays games. Thats just ridiculous.
You're tired and angry but you're definately not thinking straight. It seems to me that you have a problem with facing up to the fact that its all your own fault. You clearly know very little about computers. As this pc that you appear to have wasted a load of money on isnt actually capable of running any of todays games I would suggest either (a) taking it back and getting a refund or (b) trying to install your older graphics card as a learning experience. It might not work but at least you can find out how easy it is to install a graphics card. It really is just a case of opening the pc, slotting it in and connecting a few leads. If the card wont fit into this new pc of yours then you will know that you have definately wasted your money. My mum bought my kid brother a computer ages ago and now its utterly useless as it doesnt have a PCI slot (needed for a modern graphics card) so he cant upgrade it. Now he is looking to get a new decent PC and he is looking at spending between £300 - £400 on individual parts and getting someone else to build it for him.......not exactly £4000 is it.
Oh and WoW works fine on Vista. I played it a few months ago but then I came to my senses and uninstalled it.
....and if you have to drive 64 miles just to reach a shop that sells computer hardware then you really are a wild man of the hills. Sorry but I have this image of a wild-eyed, bushy bearded man living in a ramshackle hut out on some lonely mountain somewhere. You need to move.......maybe some place that has a section of the modern civilisation living in it perhaps?
