Eduardo are you talking about the first spirit of D&D? Because first edition D&D was just a hack and slash and it took them 10 years to add some roleplaying aspect to it.
Teleport to instances. Well all I can say is, I rather get a loading screen saying "You have traveled 12 hours" like it was in baldur's gate series than run past two small hills and seven trees in a few minutes pretending that I just ran 30 miles.
The thing is, DDO is what you make of it. If you play DDO with your role playing group, a couple nights aweek, then DDO is very much like the classic RPG. But if you start playing DDO alone, pugging your way through the content, then no, its probably not like the classic RPG.
