Bang for my buck?

JimmyLegsJimmyLegs Member Posts: 361

I was wondering if this PC is a pretty good set up for the dollar, let me know if anything can be changed for the better. I would like to keep the system under $800 but I'm willing to go over for great improvements in performance.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200

ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB)

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W

500GB 7200 RPM HDD

I'm still debating between Vista and XP.

Everything looks good, however, the only thing I would recommend would be using the E8400 instead of the E7200. The E8400 is a very reliable processor, easily OC'd, for only about $40 more.

Besides that, pretty much the same rig I have. Also, I would go with Vista 64bit. Really only because of the DX10 support and to get all the potential out of the 4 gig's of RAM.

Make sure you have a case with decent air flow and you are good to go!

I would recommend a different video card......4850's run hot

msi does not come with crossfire bridge

sapphire overclocked and a tad more expensive

Easily fixed, google search 4850 fan fix and it solves the problem. The 4850 is by far the best bang for the buck.

If you already have a 4850 sure, but if you havent bought one yet why not get one with an upgraded cooler?
