Yeah well except for the fact that AoC is a broken piece of crap which people are right to bitch about.

I was never a big fan of MMORPG's until Final Fantasy XI came out.  I played that game for a good while only to find it to be a drag to level (in my own opinion).  When World of Warcraft came out I participated in the Beta and was hooked because it incorporated many of the features I enjoyed with FFXI into a more polished package.  For me a MMORPG needs to be a polished package, something that engages me to want to continue to get that sense of accomplishment.  For me, World of Warcraft did just that until later years.  I loved the freedom of movement (you could jump off clifts, you could basically go anywhere the map presented.)  For some reason I hate games now that I can't jump, it's probably said many times before, but the ability to jump for me created that extra "freedom".  Enough of that.  Something else I loved about WoW was the fact that even though the graphics were a bit cartoonish, the graphics engine worked very well on even the simplist of machines.  Frame Rates were most of the time always there, and I could tell my system wasn't being bogged down by it.  The content when leveling was always great, but after the 7 lvl 70 character it became a drag to level.  So why am I saying all of this?

Warhammer (which I have preordered and am waiting patiently just like every other person for Open Beta) seems to mix ever single element of MMORPG gameplay that I've enjoyed in the past in one single game.  If I am leveling to 40 it's going to be a different scenario each and every time through RvR and Public Quests.  I am a huge fanatic of PVP and this game will probably fulfill that for me.  I've watched all POD casts, I've read each and every review from E3 2006-2008.  To me this game seems very polished, the game seems to have beautiful graphics, awesome music and voice acting and will provide that polish that WoW once was for me.  I'm excited and too think that Warhammer will be a good MMO.

Looking forward to : Guild Wars 2

Despite what WoW jumkies say..they have no clue what a game is, since they play another game for 2 secs and then start crying.  WAR is going to be great, a massive pvp scale, raids are teh massive pvp capital cities ownage, instances isnt going to be super long like wows, and the ui is a bit different and more useful tehn the standard wow.  I have tried the closed for war, it is pretty good.  Of course it going to be pvp, and pve but pvp gets experience from what i heard.  So eitehr way game will be great.  Now WoW on teh other hand, is the same thing mindless lvling, cant take over capital cities, graphics look like a kids game to be honest.  And by the way WoW people the concept for Warcraft came from Warhammer minis, cuase i hate when people will complain, "oh its a copy of wow" when reeally its a copy of every decent mmo before it.

All I am gonna say is this. When AOC was in beta TONS of us made a point of posting it sucked we didnt give a damn about the nda or not.Due to nda I cant say much but that alone should speak volumes usually when ppl are happy with somethin you tend not to hear any negative.

WAR is gonna be a VERY sucessful mmog right it down same as when I said AoC was gonna be a huge piece of garbage.

Well i can't wait until NDA is lifted for this game and then we will find out the truth. People did the same thing with AOC saying it was the next best thing and it turned out to be false. If it does turn out that Mythic actually did a good job then I'll be more than happy to try it when it releases but until that time, to me it is all hype and nothing more.

I signed an NDA so I can't say anything besides "There is a beta and I'm in it" unless it's fawning, so, there is a beta and I think I'm still in it.

In a couple days you'll be able to see it yourself.

A birdie told me the game has great potential to be a top contender in the MMO market. This birdie has beta tested many a turd and is somewhat jaded but if Mythic can continue to patch and improve the game it has great potential. Like all games a good/bad launch will be the determining factor in the end.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

AoC also had glaring red flags everywhere that non testers completely ignored like constant beta leaks of a negative nature, footage that was nothing but tech demos of scenery, and little to no free 2 play testing events at conventions..   AoC's own testers kept saying the game needed more delays but a few vocal people who grab onto any big game thats hyped as hardcore kept saying its awsome sauce despite the glaring issues.  The fact people believed these people is even funnier since these same people hyped vanguard and everyone KNEW It was trash including its devs.

Whats even funnier is all the NON testers for AoC that hyped the game simply because it had blood, boobs, and a mature rating despite never playing the game.

Everyone knew AoC was in trouble before it even launched just MOST of everyone ignored it..and those same people keep claiming skeptism / DOOM / GLOOM / CLONE (aoc is a wow clone rofl its combat & graphics are the only thing that save it) now which is understandable if they have problems reading the signs in the sky.

AoC's biggest sign in the sky was the list everyone knew about of thigns that were hardly ever tested or not tested at all during Beta but they were hyped in marketing anyway.  Atleast with WAR everything they hype has been tested multiple times in multiple forms by the beta testers.  They post in the herald at the end of every phase what was tested including mid game, end game, sieging, etc etc.

Something that has impressed me so far.. is the fanbase.. yes you have a few rabid fanboys.. but all in all everyone seems very realistic and down to earth..

Nothing turns me off to a game more then a Rabid fanbase that just screams...

"THe GaME is THe GREETEST!!!! ALL OtHER GAmEs SuXXors"

So far the majority of  WAR fans are taking everything in stride.. not really downing other games or over estimating WAR.. its very refreshing...

Its one of the reasons I decieded to pre order today..

You won't regret it when your smashing faces in beta... believe me.(assuming you enjoy PvP... but even the PvE is refreshing)  I'm struggling so hard in work today from lack of sleep.

    Very excited about this game.

Was WAY more excited aboutt his game before playing AoC. AoC feels a lot more like a console game... and I believe it will excell in that field next year when it hits the xbox. (or is it this year?)  But, WAR (Although some footage looks like WoW, which I don't mind as I liked WoW until it became a PvP grind) is PvP focused.  I stopped playing WoW because I liked to PvP and was tired of the same BS in every BG (I recently played it again, and quit because PUG VS premade EVERY round made the PvP... Boring)

I'm thinking that WAR will be a lot of fun.  I don't mind instancing, but only for 'specific' dungeons and that's IT.  AoC was instanced EVERYWHERE, I couldn't run out of town (glass walls anyone?), and I never really felt like I was ever exploring.  I hope this game is truly "massive" and the it's the RPG that it CAN be.

And for the 'mature' gamers, you probably shoulnd' t play WAR.. there aren't any boobies..

I'm surprised more people haven't stated this obvious fact. The only reason I have read this deep into this thread is because I have been trying to find a legitimate argument(s) that condemns WAR. I was in the AoC closed beta and the negative stuff that was posted on the AoC beta forums spread like wildfire across the internet. I only got into the closed beta two months before release (I won the beta prayer competition, go me!) and even before I got in, I knew that things were not looking good. You didn't have to look far to find a butt load of NDA-breaking negative comments posted all over the internet. As for WAR, there doesn't seem to be any substantial negative feedback and if there is, I sure as hell can't find it.

I have never understood why people root for one MMO and bash another. There has been a lot of that in the past number of months between the AoC crowd and the WAR crowd, even before the games have been released. Why not just try the games, support the one that's better, and sink the one that stinks? Maybe that will eventually teach game developers to stop releasing mediocre pieces of feces.

I have confidence in Mythic and I'm rooting for WAR. Like rznkain said, "when people are happy with something, you tend not to hear any negative."

YEs I havent heard anywhere near the amount of complaints about Warhammer beta as there were for AoC beta......If people paid any attention at all they would have avoided launch in AoC......

This game is amazing, not only because of it's features and what have you, but the developers behind it.

They have listened to the community complaints every step of the way, and have molded the game to what the people want to see. This is an exceptional developer team, and I think they will be the driving force behind what makes this game great in the coming months.

    Kudos to Mythic.

Yeah well I can pretty much predict that no matter how awesome WAR really is, some people will be flaming it come open beta. It happens every time.

I find this to be untrue. I've seen dozens of people knock AoC and WoW in favor of Warhammer, same as people do with other games.

Also, I try to look at things realistically, and realize that any launch MMO is going to have its problems, especially with todays competition and the real life problems this game faced, same as any other.

Reading thru this topic is kind of frustrating, as most the people here have never even played the game but are saying things like the developers are the best, how they listened the the players so well, and attempt to rate the game on beta leaks. This whole topic has been created, and for the most part led by people who havent played the game yet. I wonder how could people who never played the game do silly things such as give credit to the developers on how good of a job they are doing?

I'm surprised with how many MMO releases most of the people here have seen that they havent learned that having high expectations for a release game is setting yourself up for a dissapointment in the end, same as happened with AoC and every MMO before then, including WoW, or any other big MMO after the first generation.

I wish all you warhammer players well, I dont like pushing gloom and doom, but has anyone looked at the last 4 mmo's that ea-games had there mitts on? they started out awesome, then after time development slowed down, then they were cancelled or hyped up and never even made it out the door as the case with ultima-x, really woulda liked to try this one and I think mythic is frikkin nuts for getting involved in the mixed bag of nuts fruits and flakes that run EA, but seeing how EA has something to do with this I will not be buying it, i have not bought an ea-games product since they killed off westwood studios and closed earth and beyond, until they reconcile that and the 3 other mmo's community they crapped on i refuse to purchase ea-games products.
