Well I have to say my hopes and dreams of Atlantica being atleast decent were dashed away this morning.  I never made it past the character creation screen unfortunately.  I tried to make a character on the only server available to me with a normal status,  I chose my weapon, I chose my appearance,  and tried to input my name and greeting and FAIL.  I kept getting this box popping up asking me if I agree that Id's with profanity or lewdness be deleted, so I agreed and chose yes.  Thats as far as it would let me go it would not create character after I picked yes or anything.  Now I know many of you will say well change your name blah blah blah you did something bad,  well the names I tried to use were names like Jesse or Bob or James and my greeting was Hello.  So this game got the check mark of FAIL from me,  which is sad because I couldnt even get past their character creation before I was attacked with stupidity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this game in a testing pahse? I'm pretty sure it is. Maybe they were having an issue with their creator, or maybe their name filter. All perfectly normal in a test phase. I'd agree with you if you were playing a free trial, but you're not.

Most people forget that, and expect a flawless game. I'm surprised WAR doesn't have flame posts like this yet...

Anyway OP, it could be worse, I had an even worse (but similar) problem with Shadowbane, and nobody knows the answer. But Shadowbane got released, Atlantice is still in testing, so it's normal Atlantica has some bugs.

I'll try and install this game later and see if I have a similar issue. I downloaded it a couple days ago but I haven't bothered with it yet. I would expect problems from a game in beta testing, but if the trouble starts as early as character creation, that's not a terribly good sign.

I think it might have been user error I downloaded the game wasted a good 2 hours of my time when I could have been downloading porn instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to actually get to play the game to test it? Not giving the TESTERS the opportunity to TEST the game is pretty bad actually. That's not perfectly normal in a test phase, sorry.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a testing phase there to test EVERYTHING? Not just to test the game? Perhaps he was able to find a character creation issue that they hadn't found yet.

The fact that you tried to play a game that is in testing, ran into an error, and immediately write the game off as a failure and a joke says more about you then it does the game.

Did you try answering "No" and naming your character fuckhead?

If you chose a name that is already used, the warning message can be a bit small to see. I suggest you try use a name that is most likely not used by anyone else.

Just to be quite frank, nobody gives a fuck about your opinion if you quit over a bug in chargen in a closed beta.

Don't get me wrong, the game sucks for myriad other reasons, but you wouldn't have a damn clue what they are, now would you?

To sorakis: Don't lose hope on atlantica because it is a really good mmorpg game. May I suggest you try playing it again? They're going to conduct the open beta phase today so try playing it again. 

 

I'm not saying this because Im biased to atlantica or anything, but this is a really good and unique game. It is really fun playing this game I've tried the close beta and to be honest, I'm really satisfied by the results of the game

Amen to that were not biased on the game.. for me, my point is dont let a good game untouched.. just give it a try.. if it is not your style then delete it

Turn-based combat system has been the basis of many great games like Suikoden and Fallout. Of course, not everyone has to like this style of battle system, but I simply don't agree with labeling a turn-based system as bad because it does not appeal to every person.

it does appeal. the creators just wanted to try another battle system like no other. it may be good for others especially those who tried FF tactics.

True, having a turn based system will surely let players see mmorpg in a very different way. It will also add the excitement of strategy as every move will be crucial in winning for success

One thing I enjoyed in Atlantica is the AUTO MOVE... you will not waste your time locating your quest monster, npc or location... it’s a big help so you can now concentrate in leveling up. Like for example if you had a hard time finding the evill warriors and soldiers you can just turn on the Auto move and presto your character will trave automatically to the location of those monsters. I love the battle system, you can just kill steal any monster there so all kill stealer it is not the game for you… You can also see what the monster is planning... if they will cast spell on you on the next turn so you can plan ahead your attack... Does anyone here have a problem in their quest??? What I enjoyed this game is their “INGAME ENCYCLOPEDIA” it will log automatically your travel in Atlantica. On what quest do you take, what monster you encountered and kill, what item you got.. it’s all there. I recommend you to give it a try… It’s free anyway… You can message me or just reply in this forum so we can help you... Let’s build a better community in Atlantica….
