Vanguard is awesome, I love it .. but we need more players!
Please take a moment to adjust your Vanguard ratings .
I know people like to say the ratings here are a Joke, but it does help some fence sitters make up their minds.

Well...I recently ordered the game after hearing so many good things about it, and all the improvements. I played beta but didn't like it very much back then. The game should arrive today or tomorrow, so I'll be able to really see just how much has changed and hopefully it's become what it should have been...And they have this new big patch coming after the fan faire, yeah? Upgraded character models and the Trial will finally be released then, and I know that will help.
Last month SOE was kind enough to offer Vanguard free to play for that month which i appreciated. It was fun, but unless able to get into a sustained group the mid-game can become lethargic too much.
No doubt that SOE has improved & are improving Vanguard from the slums it was released in, but i still cannot advocate a brand new player purchasing it until SOE releases that Isle of Dawn to allow people to try it out free for a little bit.
That Isle of Dawn free tutorial, some official strategy guide eventualy, & a few other structured improvements will reinforce the idea that Vanguard is now ready for brand new players.
I didn't resubscribe at the end of the free month i got to play. Yes ... i did consider it heavily, but with the next update looming i figured it would be best to wait & see then decide later.
Meanwhile thanks to a kind person from these forums i am currently enjoying EQ2. So far i have been pleasantly surprised at EQ2 & the fun it offers. Getting close to level 30 & the game is starting to slow in progress, but i cannot play games as much as i used to back in the original EQ era. There are a handful of ingame things i don't like about EQ2, but most are minor. This Living Legacy promotion though i feel is a great tool, & i am definitely leaning towards subscribing at the end of this month at least for a bit.
Why ask players to come back for such a bad game. You should at least tell us that it's just a loss of money.
We have a future mathemetician on our hands folks, buying Vanguard will in fact set you back $10-20$ and would be a "Loss of money" as opposed to a gain in money. So just in case that's confusing to anyone say you have $100 in your account and resubbing VG is 14.99 therefore leaving you with $85.01 in your account and a "loss of money". Hopefully Ive made it simpler for everyone else that may not be quite at this person's level of genius.
One mans trash is another's treasure i guess. I think this game is great, I would have continued to play at launch but my computer sucked then and I couldn't run it well. Animations aren't that great but overall the graphics are nice.
This game gives me a break from WoW, which Im only playing again cuz my Cousins do, I havent seen them in a while and just wanted to talk to them. If it wern't for that aspect Vanguard would be my #1 game.
With all due respect this is a misinformed poster whose likely basing his experience on the game a year ago.
with this logic Pre windows 95 sp 1 sucks too adn you shouldnt waste your money on it.
Ahh.. I so want to come back and give it another try.
I love the diplomacy system, such a good thing to have in the game and I do miss it. It is only $15.. not even the price of a pizza around this part of the world.
Gamer by nature,
poet by heart.
One simple question:
Have you played the game recently? Since GU 5 came out? Or are you simply going off your experiences in beta or at launch? Or worse, are you simply chiming in because you've "heard" that VG is a bad game?
Ok, that wasn't one question. But if you're going to make a statement like that, you lose all credibility if you leave it unqualified. If you think the game is bad, that's fine. But give context and reasons. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke.
Is there a buddy key or trial I can get to try it out? I played it in beta and liked it quite a bit but its future was still uncertain so I didn't buy the retail version.
The trial island should be out in about two weeks. It will be free to play, up to level 10. The chunk that it's set in really does look awesome. I can't wait to try the content out myself when it goes live. I'll be rolling up an alt for that, for sure!
