While I quit the game pretty early on and could be encouraged to believe much of the above as reasons...
Its not really in the interest of the company who has at least 30 to 40 million in outside funding to pay back to ban people for no reason. So ya it could just be a GM doing it because they want to..
There is an alternative possibliity tho...
One of the two people you were grouped with and don't know very well.. could have been running a 3rd party program. I seriously don't know many people that would own up to it (I use DAoC and the mass radar bans as a good example).
I'm not sure what Funcoms policy is.. but many games if anyone you are grouped with is using a hack/exploit then anyone seen benefitting from it will also be banned.
In the early days of UO entire guilds would be banned... under the logic that if you had a guild tag you should know what your guild was up to.
So it could be a rogue GM or one of the other two was using something.
These were are core raiders... RL friends and we don't use any hacks or exploits. We all know they are out there but there would be no use for that in this case... we just told one of the opposing guild members to open their door.
This guild in particular we are talking about we have send all screenshots of them telling us how they exploited all the Tier2 bosses in BRC. As well as what fraps of them using a speed hack.
But the weird thing is when we do a petition while this is all happening (the other guild members using hacks) the GM's only show up after the opposing guild either logs off or zones out of the zone.
But to answer the question about whether someone in our group was using hacks that is a definate no.
I just thought it was humorous to add to this thread. Because we were one of the top two guilds on the server and we all left or were cancelled by Funcom. So basically the server is dead. Last time someone checked there was 5 people in Khesh during prime time.
Things like this are the reason why I canceled my sub....Any developers who mistreat the gamers that play their games should not even be in business at all..in my eyes FailCom is a disgrace to video games...thats just my opinion
Funcom tries to shut them down when they bring up anything like this, but I'm hoping some truth warriors will help spread the word anyway! You are right, however, in that few people remain -- I think when Funcom bills them after they cancel they are still allowed to post on the forum until they get banned.
