When will Developers learn?

That 90% of the people that pre order are going to cancel that order one hour before the time is up.

Developers think,  WOOOOOO look at all the pre orders "SWEET SUCCESS".  But really it's the people with" pre orders" that say Pffff that's what you think and hit that cancel button at the very last second while screaming "Thanks for the free ride". Don't count your Chickens before they hatch.

    Lets see. Non-preorder game cast you $50. All they have to do is toss in some stuff that "might" cost them $8 to produce and people will pay $100. Seems like a successful plan to me.

    He makes the point that the number of pre-orders and the numbers of beta applicants you have are fairly meaningless numbers.  They have little bearing to your game success or failure.

    He just wants to make a point that some companys claim thousends and thousend of sold copys,  we number one seller they shout, and after few weeks or months it become clear they have failed.

    Sure maybe his topic is useless but alot of gamecomapanys are also making useless claims on there sites to be biggest succes every and after short time they fail:P

    Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
    In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

    Sooo you let them use your money for a while, stress test their servers for them on your dime, and inflate their hype. You think cancelling at the last minute is some sort of moral victory? Dude you're trying to play the player   



     

    Did you ever pre order a game and then Poof.  Poof meaning vanish or cancel.

     Me, Myself and I have pre ordered a game a long time ago, Called Everquest, sense that time things have changed. Games now are free, so to MANY it means only one thing. A bigger hardrive and the know how to use ALT + Tab.  with multi free games on any given computer now, who cares if one fails,  just move on to another free game. as for getting into a Future hot game  and all it takes to get into it is pre order the game for a simple free week or two how many do you think is going to jump fences to get at it.

    I say Tons, even more.  this is 2008 not 1999. everyone wants free and the ability to sell it for more.
