Got all my parts in and together.

Asus p5k pro motherboard

dual core 38400 (@3.o)

asus 9800gtx+

psu- 550w

4 gig ram

seagate hd

dvd burner

When I power it up I get green lights all around, on the mb, on the gpu, psu fan is going, all the case fans are working, cpu cooler spinning, but I get no signal to the monitor. Also I did not hear a beep at all.

Any ideas?

try plugging your monitor into the other monitor port on your graphics card.

Also see if the cord is the problem, or converter deal (if your using one)

It would be great if you could give more detail. If you have another slot, switch the card to that. See if that does something. I had a bad stick of ram once and nothing came up on screen. That might be the case as well. This is a completely new set up right?

Problem solved.  Turns out there was a problem with power getting to the cpu (pretty that is it anyway).  There are 2 4 pin connectors off the psu, I switched them out and it fired right up.
