Impressed...

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster...In any event, I played TR when it was in it's open, free beta and it was alright, was actually quite disappointed that it was not up to what I was hoping it would be.  I downloaded the trial last evening, and I got myself to level 7.  I must say I've been quite impressed with what they've changed.

The game seems to flow better, and overall seems more fun.  Maybe it's because I have not played a MMO since May , or maybe the game has changed that much.  In any event, the game is more fun, and I would recommend anyone who's tried it in the past, to give it a go again, heck it's free.

TR can definitely provide a fun time for a couple weeks of solid play.  And I'm glad to hear that the game is performing better than when you tried it around release.

But my concern has always been how shallow the game is: There is only one path to follow and a single character can do all the content, and even run out of content after level 35.  Unless you count grinding mobs content.  Now-a-days I consider missions and storylines to be content.  By all means, check out the free trial while it lasts, but you might end up looking elsewhere for a longer-term MMORPG commitment.

I also need to comment on the TR developers, Destination Games.  I was in the closed beta for over 4 months, played for a month at release, and checked the game out on a trial a little over a month ago.  After all that, I was never impressed with the devs.  Their communication with the players has always been rare and usually only when they are hyping some future idea for the game--which the vast majority of the time either never materialize or are very poorly implemented.  Honestly, I think the TR developers are out of their league and not up to the challenge that faces them in todays competitive MMOG market.  To that end, I don't think TR will ever amount to much more than it is now:  An ultra-casual, limited content game.

I agree with alot of this passage. Ive just quit again, i too resubbed. I lasted two weeks...

Surer alot of the game has changed for the better,  performance, icon graphics, a few new items.

Games still missing the end game.. Its still end game at lvl 30 for me... Game still feels like its missing something, i figured out what it is this last time resubbing.

This epic struggle for survival is missing, the bane are  scripted and drop in on a timer, then they just rush thats it. boring. With the game as it is, man kind doesnt need to worry at all about the "evil bane".

Yes tr is missing the war...

SO.... i preordered  Warhammer online so i could get my WAR on ...

I downloaded free trail, played for a couple of days.  Reminds me of Guild Wars, but better then Guild Wars because I spent most of my time in the Wilderness, which is not instanced so I ran into other players.   I wasn't forced to group with anyone in some pre-determined format, better then Guild Wars.  Also the Bane attacking outposts and taking them over sometimes if not enough players were defending was fun like Starship troopers (not instanced).

However Guild Wars is not my thing, i'm looking for a game like pre-holocron SWG, WWIIONLINE or Planetside, and maybe Diablo 3 if Blizzard don't screw it up or dumb it down, so i'm now going to delete Tabula Rasa from me hard drive now.

The outposts or CPs as TR calls them are the best part of TR. The only problems with them are, they are meaningless as far as either army holding them getting any benefit and too many of them have areas you can exploit the poor AI.

TR in my opinion needs epic large scale battles against the bane. For a game about a war it lacks any feeling of it. Mostly you just run into small groups of Bane that never struck me as being a group that could destroy Earth and chase us off of it.

Yes they are still without high level content. They have over the months added a couple of high level instances but thats putting a bandaid on an amputation wound. Its actually like 10 months now and by the time the game enough high end content to keep top levels busy it might be year 3 at the rate they produce new stuff to do.

But at least the latest update completely redid the starting area and tutorial, for all those new players.

Pre CU SWG didn't need any "high level content"

WWIIONLINE don't need any "high level content"

Planetside don't need no "high level content"

TR needs high level content and the sooner the better. Unlike Planetside, which was designed around PvP that you could be good at no matter your level, TR has poorly implemented PvP and is based on a story that at level 50 comes to an end and no MMO should ignore high level content.

Other games did it in the past, well the MMO industry needs to improve going forward. People simply are not going to pay for half assed attempts anymore.

To the tune of this song:

We don't need no "high level content"

    We don't need no "quests"

    No grinding in the game.

Grinders and griefers leave them sandboxes alone.

HEY GRINDERS AND GRIEFERS leave them sandboxes alone!

All and all your just another brick in the wall.

If only TR had sandbox elements. Unfortunately it has none. Might be TRs biggest flaw. Quest based game that needs massive influx of sandbox gameplay.
