Everytime i start the game, it opens the patch program, and just sits at "looking for game updates...." no mater how long i leave it, it never stops and opens the game, can anyone help me? like admin??
The server was down for a little while. We're experiencing some extra stress because of more users and working through some problems, thanks for your patience. And look for things to get more stable in the future.
We all have that problem. At first I thought the thunderstorm messed up my connection. Every online game, be it SWG or Nexus, will have downtimes such as those. We'll have to get used to it one day or another.
Well I live in GMT -5 and it worked fine from 5-8 AM or something like that. Maybe (I hope) the devs are trying something like some major changes in a new patch (A guy can dream...). We'll have to be patient.
Yeah same thing happened to me this morning for hours also, so I ran the client from the starport directory bypassing the patch program. It worked. I got on and there was alot of other people online also. I had to go eat breakfast so I logged out. Now I really cant get in anymore. It just sits at the login screen and does nothing. Should've never logged to eat. So right now some people can play and some cant. Those who can are surly reaping the reward of everyone floating unprotected in space.
I dont mind so much not being able to get on, but what sucks is that some still can and they now have an unfair advantage.
You know, its not so much knowing that other people can play and are reaping major rewards decimating defenseless forlorn pilots. It's knowing that it's not me doing it.
Out of order for 10 hours now (by my count). Most irritating bit being my brother got on while i was out getting dinner. I still cant get in. Alas, such is life.
I don't know about anyone else but I am still having htis issue, although with me it is with Patch 158 I have been unable to download the patch since it came online and as a result have been unable to gert into the Game,. I tried bypassing the loader but when I got into the Game it stated that my version was not up to date and I could not play.
If the patching sequence was somehow corrupted (which is quite rare) then a good solution should be:
1. Uninstall the game by opening your control panel, choosing Add/Remove Programs and selecting Starport on the list that appears
2. Make sure the entire directory that Starport was in on your hard drive is deleted. It is usually C:Program FilesStarportGE and if you're not sure use the start menu's "Find" tool and search for "StarportGE" and see if it comes up with directory of that name. If you find a directory called StarportGE then delete that directory and all of its contents.
2. If you still have the file you downloaded to install the game, then run that file. Otherwise, go to the official web site www.StarportGame.com and follow the links to download the install file again. You can "open the file" or "save it to disk" when downloading. If you chose "save to hard drive" for the download then locate that file and run it once the download completes.
This would fix any problems with the actual patching, though often, the problem can lie elsewhere and only seem like it is a problem patching. I'm getting together a support FAQ to help answer a lot of these questions.
hello this is starting to piss me off. i can get to the damn logon most of the time but then it sits there and does nothing for an hour and then it disconnects me from the internet. i have dialup and a 50.6-50.7k connection. i have ran other online games under dialup and it runs faster than this. fucking thing has gotten me killed more times than i like to remember. i was trying to get into my colony and the damn thing crashed with enemies around me that was 2 hours ago i can't get back into the damn game
ya know, I run the same speed dial up as you described, and I've never had a problem with "getting booted", maybe a hard drive/processer upgrade is in order?
i've noticed, after installing windows xp service pac 2 that those problems started for me, i switched the properties to run the game as windows 98/me mabey that'll help all u guys too.
