Though I don't recall ever seeing her work before, from what I read she was extremely nice (even when banning people!) and did her job as community manager the way it should be done. Sad such a great and young person has to die.
So with this shot I drink tonight, I toast to let those above know that another Gamer enters the gates.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

"If this was the cause, then I don't understand why the hush hush unless alcohol was involved and she was responsible. Does no one at MMORPG.com know what happened?"
It's called notification of next of kin.and discretion on MMORPG's part Anyways my condolences to her familly.
I don't mean to harsh anyone out but let's not turn this thread into a competition of piety. Many of us who have known young people who have died, in car accidents, through illness and even, worst of all, who took their own lives, would like to know what happened to Laura, not out of prurience or idle curiousity, but simply because it provides completion to the life of the person whom we knew. As Jon - Stradden - himself has already said, he delayed posting any information about the news until after he knew her family had been informed. Many of us are mystified and baffled at how a vibrant, young woman now comes to be dead, and we hope that Stradden feels able to make a brief statement as to the nature of her passing, if only to provide cerntainty to those who knew her and to head off gossip from those who didn't.
Although I didn't know Laura on a personal level, or meet her at any conferences, I did enjoy her writing and her numerous articles around the community.
My condolences and prayers go out to her family for their loss.

As the old saying goes
"Only the Good die young"
RIP Laura. We will miss you but we will never forget all the "great" you brought to this world.
Sooner or Later
God Bless her and her family. Nothing more tragic than the early death of a young person.
I didn't know her, but for your comments I suppose she was young. It's truly sad to know that a young person dies.
RIP
My condolences.
God be with her and her family.

When you were born, you cried
and the world rejoiced.
Live your life
so that when you die,
the world cries and you rejoice.

Didn't know her, never spoke to her, but it's my belief that every soul should be respected as it passes from here to the next.
Good journey to you Laura.
Mne eto nado kak zuby v zadnitse.
Rest in peace Laura. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
I sometimes think of this poem when I mourn my dead parents.
"Remember me when I am gone away.
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand.
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me: you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had.
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than you should remember and be sad."
