Storyline Type of Game

Well, I just came back to the real world after spending about 3 years in Maple Story. (I'm so very disappointed right now) Anyways, I really want to play a game that has a storyline behind it. I mean, You feel like you somehow belong there. For example, Flyff was very enjoyable for me. Mainly because the people weren't there handing out quests for Exp. They wanted you to go find out something; like the Mia monsters. (I loved that quest, very dark xD) Plus, It had advancments in jobs, so it branched out even more. So your not just mage # 4859375032850838097342. No, I'm not going back to it; just needed an example. Thanks for reading, and any games would be very nice. I don't mind graphics or anything, just as long as it's Free and/or Cash Shop based.
