I just bought the game, and I am installing it now. I just wanted to ask about the servers. Are there PVP servers? Or are there more arena/battleground wow type pvp setups. I played COH for a bit when it first came out, and enjoyed it. If anyone could just give me the DL on the servers, which has the best players, most players, pvp, etc.

Much appreciated

Regards,

Bukshot

Enjoy.  It is really a good game... just gets old after a while.  Anyways, to answer some of your questions.

    1. There are no true PvP servers as there isn't true Free-For-All PvP in this game.  But, all servers have PvP in some form or another.  I'm not into PvP, so I'm uncertain as to which servers have the most PvP action.
    2. PvP is separated into 2 things:  PvP zones (just like ParisDragon described, they're like WoW Battlegrounds, except slightly more indepth IMO), and arenas (these are usually dead though... but can be fun with friends).
    3. As to the server info... I would suggest looking at the server forums (boards.cityofheroes.com) to get an idea of the "quality" of players.  As to quantity, there's 2 servers that tend to be more populated (names escape me ATM) and you can see them during more prime-time server capacity on the server select screen.

Again, it is a good game.  Have fun with it, but try not to burn yourself out too quickly.

Freedom (located on the east coast of the US) and Virtue (west coast) are the 2 most populated servers. Virtue is also often considered to be the unofficial roleplaying server (which doesn't mean there isn't any roleplaying on the other servers), Freedom more the server of powergamers. The CoX community is, by popular mmorpg standards, very good and friendly on all servers (but better on the smaller servers probably, like in most games).

I've played on Freedom which had active pvp zones most of the time, I've heard Virtue and Justice also have pretty active zones. Arenas were pretty much dead unless you bring friends yourself.
