Well, I finally pre-ordered at Gamestop.com tonight. I hope this game doesn't suck like the last 2 hyped MMORPG, Vanguard and AOC.
Someone tell me this game doesn't suck! I signed up for Beta with 100 email accounts, and not one of the 100 email accounts were accepted for BETA

Yea, god was watching me. I can never get into any beta for some reason. The last time I got into Beta was SWG, and that was because I paid $6.99 a month to IGN.COM. How is it some people get into every Beta???
Or Else? Or Else, I wait for KOTOR online.

I used to have decent luck getting into betas but not anymore......I have not got a beta invite in over a year and I have an above average PC......I have heard several here brag how they are in several betas at the same time and how they have never been truned away for a beta......Ever since the "pay to get into open beta" philosophy started I have never got in.

Umm......wha? What does gaming have to do with starving children....also its not bad to buy your way into beta because it just makes the marketing go round. The main reason I'm in beta is to see the mechanics and all that. I'm basically just doing what beta is for...when I cna of course.

I wan't in AoC beta, and I was just defending the game from trolls. I had a 50/50 shot at that point and I really wanted it to succeed. So sue me! I'm in beta and i'm just saying that it is a good game. Try it for yourself though. Don't listen to me or anyone else.

Here are a few tips I learned after a long wind of no betas. Don't post dxdiag or system specs of the latest and greatest super computer (if that's what you have), find one that meets their requirements or slightly higher. When you're asked why you want to test, don't be fanboi, be short and explain you like the promise of the game. Don't list the 100 MMOs you've played either, one or two are good but you don't want them to know you're an addict. And last, if you're in the industry and they ask, don't tell them

It doesn't suck for me but I can't say if you will like it or not. Different people like different games.
In mmo forums there are mostly two kinds of people, (I'll let you guess what two kinds those are). And if a person in category a likes a game they usually will fight for it to the death to the exclusion of rationality, civility or common sense ignoring anything bad about it and will gloss over anything anyone says to the contrary with every kind of personal attack they can muster.
If there's a person from camp b, those that dislike a game, they will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end to discredit anyone from camp a, the developers, the players, the entire game...all parts of it...until months after they've even stopped playing it until they've got their "money's worth" out of it and feel justified for not doing the research first before dropping their 50 bucks in a rush to play.
Very few people take the middle, rational path like you said there in the quote. The reality lies somewhere in the middle path, but we mostly only hear from the two polar extremes unfortunately as they tend to be more concerned with people feeling the way they do about something, and when that is not the case, just don't understand and lash out.
Makes for cheap entertainment I guess especially when waiting in-between games.
The best thing I can do for you is to say the game gets better as you get higher level. Your preorder lets you try the rank 1-20 game and I know after AOC that doesn't mean much to you but this game gets you into the meat of the game at low level and just gets slightly better as you gain levels. It isn't like AOC where the first 20 levels are nothing like the last 60. If you like WAR during the open beta you like the game period.
i got in the age of conan beta. warned everyone in mmorpg forums, that is was incomplete and they were going to release it that way, said to stay away from the garbage...and got banned. now look at the conan forums, LOL. i know a good mmo when i play it, but no one want to listen, they want to call you a troll.
I keep seeing people claim that others are paying to get into beta. Who are they paying? Didn't people get the codes for pre-ordering? Which probably meant you were going to buy the game. If you pre-ordered you pay anywhere from nothing to maybe 5 bucks down on the game. Which goes toward purchase. I know I have paid nothing for my pre-order. And remember when WoW came out and how hard it was to find it on the shelves? You don't think for one second people are going to put their name on a list for this game?
To the OP...The game does not suck. In my opinion it far from sucks. But that's just me. I haven't felt this into an MMO since my old EQ days. I've played them all since and they're all the same old crap. To me this one feels different. I see myself easily playing this for a year or more. I kick most of them to the curb after 2-3 months.
sounds like some good stuff. the dev interviews are great. i remeber all conan would talk about is there revolutionary combat, lol. seems like you are enjoying it, sounds fun.
NDA is over!!! Those in BETA, tell us why this game won't suck! 3 more wereks for the unlucky ones like myself before open beta.
its not over till mythic/ea says its over...even if it is tomorrow :P
