i don't like the basic gameplay. The game feels clunky, I damn near was looking for the "next turn" button when in combat. thats how bad the gameplay is. Having said that, many people won't mind that at all, but many others will. It's what bothers you about a game that influences your opinion. Unfortunately all the things I like are outweighed for me by the simple fact that swinging a big axe isn't a fluid action. (insert weapon of choice)
This was one of my main concerns about this game, slow paced. I'm looking for something more fast paced, that is one reason some things in AoC appealed to me.
I just can't handle this type setup anymore. I need more twitch based, even though I know a lot of you hate it.
The UI was changed late last week to a more WoW like response instead of the turn based it was prior. Made a huge difference. Before the change I did not plan on continuing after closed beta. Its like a whole other game now. Why it took 3 years to figure out a delayed response was bad I don't know but sure glad its gone.
Thats because the 'fanbui's' are quick to report any thread that they dont like or bashes their clone, not to mention MMORPG is in Mythics pocket and doesnt want to piss them off so they remove threads as well.
Coming from a "hateboi" that has dedicated himself to be the War thrasher today, what is your difference to the fanbois ? Let people enjoy a good MMO since SWG or DAOC for christ's sake.

Are the bugs only a bit annoying and not game breaking?
There are some CTDs but they seem to be fixing them pretty well. There are bugs but this is not AoC or Vanguard or such. I am impressed in what they are making. I dont think bugs will be a main problem in this game but for that lets wait until release.
Did they really keep every feature listed on the site?
Yes. Except for what they said they removed. Amazing, eh? I was surprised in a good way
The game sounds way too good to be true.
I agree and in a way I am pretty sure many people will NOT like the game. This is not DAoC 2, this is not WoW 2... this is a game the take the good things from that games and others and put them all together... they are not revolutionazing the MMO industry. Alto PQ and ToK are pretty nice innovations, they are actually all ideas that finally are being implementing well, imo.
I expect the Sandbox fans to not like WAR too much and I expect the WoW loyalists to bash WARs pve.
I agree. This is not a sandbox. They never intended to to one and never promised one neither. But sandbox people may like the game anyway... others wont. I would say is just a well done MMO that may compete with the others, including WoW. I dont see it like the new thing that will change the history of MMOs... but who knows? I didnt think WoW would change anything neither and they actually did (for good or bad lol).
But seriously where the hell are the horrible reviews saying the game will tank?
LoL... surprised, eh? In the present, I see 2 things that I am worried about:
- Mechanism to prevent underdog realm become a factory of frustrated people. I couldnt play tier 4 (which is the one that really matters so I dont know)
- The trading that happens with BFOs in tier 1 and 2... that actually promotes NOT to engage the enemy but to avoid it and just trade BFOs. Alto the first tiers are just the first part of the game... I think there are like 80 RR... and tier 1 is just the first 11 RRs and tier 2 is up to RR 21... or something like that. So I think the real RvR is tier 4 and the first 3 tiers are so you get to know your class... like DAoC with BGs... alto these are nothing like BGs.After spending much time on the Marauder, and getting killed while trying to run down ranged characters, I've started to notice a certain "flow" to most group vs group encounters in this game, and learning this flow I've come to, in my opinion, be very successful in most RvR encounters. I share here with melee beta testers as too often I see them suiciding into a zerg and getting nothing done. This mini-guide is specifically made for MDPS (melee DPS: the Marauder, Witch Elf, Witch Hunter, and White Lion) that are in a pug situation, although tanks could easily get a few pointers out of it too.
These are the 2 concerns I have and notice they are design stuff not bugs or content but design. So, imho, the game is quite well done... we will see how it ends up to be after some months after the release.
I dont think this game will tank.
I'm reading these forums in shock that the game can be this good.
hehe We had been hoaxed so much in the last years by so many MMOs that I totally understand you.
No terrible lagg? no glitchy collision? no bugged spells? no server stability problems? no unbalanced gameplay? no terrible itemization? No lack of endgame like AoC? this is crazy.
Lol No, no AoC 2 neither. I suffered some lag in big RvR battles and some CTDs... I set preferences to low setting and I can play it good. I didnt play tier 4 but I know people playing it and it's there.
Itemization? No problem, imo. Btw, gear is not as important as in other games. This is more as what DAoC was at the start... you use what you have and you can compete. There is not Armor or Weapon crafting neither hehe
There are better stuff but RvRing you can access to good gear. I dont feel this will be a game gear centered. I may end been totally wrong in this too, of course.
seriously I've read two reviews one by a Old school DAOC player that seems to be a bit fanboi and a sandbox lover wanting the next SWG-pre CU that seemed negative but still had good things to say.
I think some DAoC players will love it, others will hate it and others wont care. As I said, this is not DAoC 2.
Did mythic really do that great of a job?
I think so. They may always fail but I was very very well surprised by the work they doing and the way they handle beta. This had been the best beta I had been in. They survey us for a lot of things, lets us send feedback and some of the feedback was actually listened. The beta itself was well done... they put new stuff in waves and example was the graphic parts. Each patch improved it a little more. The graphics are great... they arent like AoC... but who cares about graphics in a RvR?! hehehe
Guys this game sounds like the second coming, the only dudes left in WoW will be the raiders since WAR seems to be lacking large pve raids.
This game has the PvP that WoW never had. I think many WoW lovers that really like PvP will like the game.
So many good reviews and good posts, its crazy to see such positive feed back on Mmorpg forums.
I agree LMAO.
In resume, some people will not like it, others will love it. For sure, I dont think this is another unfinished MMO as we had suffered in the last years. Alto I can't say you will fall in love with the game. You will have to try it.
Well did you really expect the diehards to post negative information ? Ofcourse not, same thing happened with AOC but I expect WAR to be really more polished which would really be a considered a miracle these days. Though this is only like day 1 of the NDA lift and when we get much closer to launch if people are complaining about major issues still then we know what we are getting. If the game turns out to be well polished and fun they I will give it a try.
Someone had a live stream up where you could see people in RVR which to me looked really interesting. I also heard people saying that there will be 80 pvp levels. Can someone confirm ?
I Played both EQ2 and WOW at launch WAR kicks the crap out of both of those games for bugs/stability and fun at launch. Its not perfect and there are a few things I dont really like but they dont really take away enough from the game to make it a pass for me.

confirmed though the highest that i got is level 13
Was in CB and i know of some of the issues people are bringing up, but i wouldn t worry about them. The game is FUN and thats all that really matters. I haven t played a game this good in years.
Thats because the 'fanbui's' are quick to report any thread that they dont like or bashes their clone, not to mention MMORPG is in Mythics pocket and doesnt want to piss them off so they remove threads as well. Im sure if you dig deep youll see WAR is your basic level based run-of-the-mill MMO with nothing new to offer the genre. One thing is for sure, wait till release and then wait till the power levelers start to control RvR and then come back to these forums and watch the 'fanbui' whine fest begin! That will be funny to read!!
This is a total lie. Fanbois wouldn't report, they would vehemently retort just to make sure everyone knows the truth, and what they are saying IS the truth. Additionally, the last paragraph shows that they don't know how the game works at all, because thats impossible.
OP, the game really is that stable, smooth, and fun.

I have to disagree with you here based off of what I have read and seen. For one, I know the Chosen is no where near what a typical shadowknight is (AKA EQ2). They have I think 1 nuke they can spec into at late levels, and really are a pretty unique class. They can go 2H for DPS or sword + shield for tanking, and they revolve around using auras a lot.
Marauder kind of looks to play a bit like a rogue, but it's a lot different. For one the three different mutations throw in some interesting choices (you aren't going to be sitting in one mutation, much like a warrior in WoW you'll have to dance around them to be the most effective I am betting).
Of course I'm not in beta, I could be wrong, but from what I've read / seen all the classes seem pretty unique.
It's an incredible experience. The content is absolutely unrivaled. Needs a little tweaking but holy crap I can't begin to explain how small everything that's wrong with it is.

The combat will turn off some people from the start.
For myself I can say that it is a damn fine game. What has been promised is being delivered which is a nice change. As to whether or not anyone else thinks it is a good game, well that boils down to personal taste. You aren't going to find a sandbox experience but you are going to find an entertaining, again in my opinion, experience that has many many places where the game can grow.

Can't believe you didn't put in
Sorcerer ; Bright Wizard
They not only have the same mechanic for storing Dark magic and Combustion, but it gives them the same bonuses as well. Both damage each other the more they store it, and, can you believe it, their 3 starting skills are basically identical.
I was in CB. I dunno what to say. It's...... Well...... I guess you will see for yourself soon. I dont want to say anything since it was a closed beta. I'm a sandbox gamer mostly so yeah I'm a biased source
But its a good game. The PQs are well done. Good fun. And the RvR felt very nice. never saw the city raiding though
Will probably preorder and make a Shadow Warrior again.
Please explain to me how this will work when you need to have PRIOR CONTROL of Tiers 1-3 before you can even start to control Tier 4.
If you have played DaoC or WoW battlegrounds, hell even shadowbane back in the days against an all GUILD VoIP enabled opponent and all close to max level then you will understand what im talking about.
SO join a guild that is organized as well, I wouldn't join a guild that didn't use Voip in PVP.Anyone who played those games would know one thing , They'd all know you have no clue what you're talking about.

Yes there are problems. Some minor class balance issues. Some CTD, quite a bit in the way of lag issues, and some assorted bugs like broken quests. However as of recently there have been huge improvements to class balance, stability, and combat responsiveness. So I see no reason to believe that Mythic will be able to hammer out the rest of the issues by launch.
Now is the game really that good? Is the game really that fun? Did Mythic really nail this one on the head? Even with the CTDs, the sluggish combat (which has since been drastically improved), and the sometimes unbearable lag, is this game that much fun and that good? HELL YES.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
