Well it's been an interesting few months for me, a social experiment if you will. With the help of my dedicated friends I was able to take a barbarian population that was almost nonexistent to something awesome. We've had our ups and our downs, but I'd say it was certainly worth the while despite the end result.
This sure was a surprise, checking in the forums from during my vacation. But then again, can't say I didn't see it coming. It's like committing thoughtcrime; they'll get you in the end
I deleted grass files on numerous occasions to raise my FPS. I can't fight with 10-15 FPS, and fighting is all I do.
I deleted the dung.pack files a few times so I could walk around and pick up green boxes instead of looking for tiny little brown specks on the grass.
I did a few more things that made the game bearable for me to play.
I never interfered with anything connected to direct PvP with another player. Like I previously stated, I lived for the PvP in this game. And to everybody who killed me and who was killed by me they can at least feel secure in the fact that they were legitimate fights.
To everyone in the community I suppose this is my farewell then. I suppose I may see you all with another alias sometime in the future, but nobody will know.
I've had a lot of fun, a hell of a lot of fun with this game. A lot of potential, and great players on both sides despite the numerous arguments we have. I hope that I brought you guys more fun than I did harm, that was one of my major goals while playing. To create a larger population, some interesting RP events, more combat, eventually larger battles we had never seen. I'm still regretting we didn't get to have that 30 person battle on the Trino board because of the lag, and that'll probably be the last chance for that any of us have.
I'm confident that I've done a good thing for this game as a whole, and I'm happy with that. Maybe if somebody could post some pics of the fires I've been hearing about on the MMORPG forums that would be great, nice to know we went out with a bang. I'll also post this on those forums because I don't know how long it'll last here.
To the remaining barbarians and Trinovantes friends of mine, keep yer sticks on the ice
So long, and thanks for the meat_fish.

I have to say you made the game more interesting even if I didnt agree with some of your tactics. You unified the barbs made them a force to be recond with. You were always a good fight. Glad I killed you more times than you killed me. Good luck to you.
By the way your hamata looks great on me.
The Trinovantes brought a lot to the game, both good and bad. They deserve fair credit for both. The bad...I'm going to leave that alone. No sense kicking a dead horse.
They brought some action and excitement. In a player-driven game, there is no substitute for it. It helped out a lot. For most of the 2 years since release, almost all action was driven by the 18th Legion. It was a frustrating and grueling task. There were two short stints by The Hundred basically driving the action, but other than that, it was just the 18th fueling PvP. Then Trinovantes took the lead for a good 6 months or so, and RV benefitted greatly from that. As a result, even Romans were able to accomplish a lot, with several Roman guilds developing much closer relations and teamwork that hasn't been seen since early release. Without a powerful enemy, that most likely would not have happened.
The Trinovantes also pulled off some ground-breaking historical achievements that will not be forgotten.
As for the FPS stuff, I completely understand, though there is really no justification. Deleting art files gives competitive advantages well beyond increasing FPS. I just got a new pc last month. Before that on my junk pc, I fought with 2-4 fps much of the time, with 8-10 being the best I could get. It was very frustrating, especially when some cheater would kill me and say, "Get on my level noob." I'm glad I didn't get on their level.
Best of luck in the future.
As some players know, I am writing an RP history of RV. Sometimes I create unique characteristics for "unsavory" characters. Do you want to have lost a testicle in a fishing accident, or do you want to have been horribly scarred in a fire? Just kidding.
Nope, I've taken care of Baldur's death. You can read it in the Sacred Grove. Good luck with keeping tha game alive Vlad.
Sounds cool, vlad, can I be the one legged no armed warrior in your history?
sad to see you banned for what seems to be a pretty stupid reason, socratus, You have my sympathy

ROFL. You are already unique enough.
Although i haven't played this game. I completely agree with this user's standpoint. It seems you revived the game for excitement and better PvP. However, having low fps does not mean you are permitted to edit visual files to gain advantages that are actually considered cheats in other multiplayer games. In DoD: Source, removing grass is considered a cheat. Deleting the dung picture files is a blatant cheat.
