Check that out.  They were allowing new accounts for a short time.  If it's too late I bet it will be very soon that they open it up for all.  I would let you use my account but it is also my wifes and we still play it especially with WAR beta being off.

Wow thanks! I have been wanting to play this game for a while now. Seems like a really cool unique MMO.

Oh well from what i have read the combat is still too slow and the world has no soul so never mind.. i might pick it up when the trial comes out. (note, just my opinion)

So based on all of the good reviews, and bad reviews you picked out of the bad reviews (the minority by far) some information and without ever playing the game or forming your own opinion you use that data to form and back an opinion of your own (which really isn't your own opinion since you took it from someone else).

Add in the fact that you have posted information stating you were in WAR beta or had played in it meaning you were lying since you now are basing this on things read, and the fact that you are the biggest Blizzard/WotLK fan I have ever seen and you will understand why I think you are being a little bit funny?

Don't get me wrong though.  I wet my pants every time I visit the Diablo III website, and I have loved every Blizzard game ever made besides WoW.

please read what i said "the combat is still slow" meaning it have played it in beta.. but not for a few months, so i thought id download the beta client again (hum need to be in beta to do that BTW) but cant test it again as the beta is closed.

The combat was slow and laggy in beta.. and from what i have read it still is slow.

Sorry my bad.  I guess it depends on what slow is to you?  The only MMO I can think of that is faster is..  WoW.  I think it is a much more strategic combat system than WoW though, and to me combat isn't slow at all.  It is a great combat system especially when compared to all of the other MMO's on the market.  Were you expecting WoW 2.0?  This is more DaOC 2.0 and for many that was the greatest combat system in an MMO ever.  Like you said though just your opinion and just mine.  I am glad you have WotLK coming out so we both have something we love to play.

As fast as WoW is 90% of the combat is crowd control.  You have no idea how thankful I am that there is no CC in WAR.

Well theres strategy in Both wow and war... you might have more time to fight in WAR but I found it slow and dull in comparision to WoW (the only mmo ive taken a PvP interest in)... maybe Ive played WoW to long but the combat speed in Wow for me is just right.. theres enough time to make decisions... do I run or stand my ground? do I use my trinkets or long cooldowns now or save them for a more apt situation? and so on.

and i dispute the 90% crowed control, its a great feature of Wow combat and Wow would not be the same without it.. but you cant win a battle using CC.

LOL, strategy in WoW, I have 2 70s and after getting SO bored of that game I quit. That game has absolutely no strategy and its basically a mockery to compare the two....IMO of course :P

True.  90% was an exaggeration.  There were times and fights when I really liked WoW's combat system, and times when it frustrated the hell out of me.  I do like both, but I don't like the way WoW's is applied (Arena + BG's).  I am used to so many MMO's different combat systems that I guess I just take them all as they are and don't compare them.  I just know how much fun i'm having while playing any given game I guess.

You can't win a battle with CC in WoW?  Uhhhh...  I'm not even going to flame...

CC sucks.  Period.  I can deal with a root, quick stun, knockdown, or snare - but complete CC where you have no control over your character at all for often too long is just a stupid game mechanic for people who have no skill.

I would much rather win a fight knowing I fought better than someone else than "I just turned you into a pig/made you float in the air doing nothing/sheeped you and won the fight!"

CC should be strictly PVE in every game.  It has no business in PVP.  Let's look at an example:

WoW Arena 3v3 - Team 1 has Mage, Druid and something else.  The druid uses cyclone, the mage sheeps.  Now team 2 has 1 player that can even fight back.  Team 2's other crowd controlled players get to spend their time watching their buddy get beat down.  Sure they have counters, but guess what!?  The other team can just spam the CC and they are back at square 1.  That isn't winning a battle, and I'm guessing that the people on team 2 agree.  So team 2 employs the same tactics you say?  What fun is that?  Its just the same thing, in reverse.  You know when they start making items to counter poorly designed CC the game is broken.

Ah Ryzom is like a Sandbox.  At the starter Island there are some quests to get you used to the game, but in the World there aren't quests really.  It is free roaming.  Everything useful is crafted by players, and your character can be whatever you want.  If you want to dual wield and cast magic you can, or if you want to just harvest and craft you can.  You progress by raising skills, and you raise skills by using skills.  If you melee fight then you will get better at melee fighting.  The players are awesome, and the World is amazing.  The NPC's are like alien animals and they migrate, hunt each other, and do other various cool things.  Some may run up to you to check you out and sniff you, and some might try to eat you.

You will definitely feel out of sorts at first, but just talk to other players and give it a shot and you may realize why so many people here are begging for more Sandbox games.

Check this out to while waiting -

The Ryzom client is only like 1.8 gb or something so it will be done fast, and the speed varies.
