guess we'll know soon enough. the 1st of November is still a few weeks away.
Oh and you can always pre-order the game in september. that will let you be able to log-in to the beta during the first weekend of each month during the beta...
That makes me wonder... the first weekend of each month during the beta... that would mean.. november... december... and how many more months before the game gets released?
I remember reading somewhere that there projected funding for GW is set up until Feb of 2005 so that is at least 4 months if there testing goes smooth but we will see.
As for beta sign ups, registration for beta sign-ups hasn't be released yet, but will undoubtably be sometime in the near future since the beta will begin in November.

Here are some answers for you, and I think you'll like them all:
* Anyone, from anywhere, should have the World Preview Event available. If you have an Internet connection, you should be able to play. System specs are listed on our FAQ, and they are quite reasonable by today's standards. * We are working with our European and Asian offices on the beta events that will take place after the World Preview Event. Details will be announced on that, but it's our intention that all who preorder Guild Wars will be joining us, from any corner of the globe. * If you have preordered Guild Wars, and you have paid a price equivalent to the pre-sale product price, you'll be on the "invitation list" for the beta events. Again, details will be worked out on that, but yes, if you're an early pre-orderer (and we thank you!) you should be in! * Guild Wars should be available for pre-order through your favourite retailer in September. If they don't offer it... maybe change your favourite? Ok, seriously now, you should find a store or on-line retailer who offers the pre-sale, and you'll be able to join us once you have that in hand.
Hope that's helpful information. We'll be updating the Guild Wars FAQ shortly, so look for a few new entries there.
And see you in Guild Wars -- soon! __________________ Gaile Gray Community Relations Manager ArenaNet ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The beta begins in October. We will take as much time as necessary to balance and polish the game based on feedback received during the beta period, and anticipate that we will release Guild Wars by early 2005.
Will you be having a traditional beta? NEW!
Monthly worldwide events will replace a traditional beta test. We have been conducting an alpha test for nearly three years and have received and incorporated excellent feedback from our testers. Now we are starting our beta period and are opening Guild Wars to the world. During the World Preview Event game players from around the world will be invited to play Guild Wars and enjoy exciting cooperative quests, challenging competitive play and robust guild support. Subsequent monthly beta events will allow players who purchased the pre-order product to return to join the Guild Wars beta, which will take place during the first weekend of each month.
U want to get into the Beta just Pre-Order the game. Don't know or think there doing any signups anymore just the core Alpha members and those who Pro-Order get into the Beta.
