I'm looking for a Cheaper but still good Video Card that would be good for WAR, i had just recieved as a gift a Intel Core 2 Duo processor E7200 (3MB L2, 2.53GHz, 1066FSB), 4gb ram, and just the general piece of crap video card they give u. I'm looking for a card that can be supported by my comp and work well for WAR.
Thanks

you can get a 9800 gt for around $130 - $160 on new-egg now. that would be plenty to run WAR

cheaper but still good you can do what i did and grab an 8600gt 256mb ddr3 oc for about 50 bucks on newegg or ebay. runs on as little as a 300watt p/s.
I would sugest going with a ATI 4850 over the 9800 GT. They will generaly outperform this Nvidia card.
yea, and a 9600 gt is at $100 too, i have one and it runs AOC on med.

Would that be able to be supported by my comp, and after u saw the other specs of my comp, do u think i;ll be fine for playing WAR? If you actually have the name of the exact video card would be great, i'm not familiar with gt.
Thanks
your specs are fine for war. you got a nice comp.

Now i was looking on new egg just now and am confused on the ones you all were pointing out, there are so many video cards out there, i honestly couldn;t tell the ones u were talking about?
if you go with Nvidia there will be alot of different brands, find one in your price range. EVGA and BFG are both good but there are others too. as the number gets higher the price and performance go up, 9400, 9600, 9800 ect. GT just means its a performance model for that number

o ic that makes sense thanks, and you said that the GT series, like 9800 or etc. would definitely be able to be supported by my rig and would be good for gaming?
Thanks
the 9800GT would be more than enough, and if your comp has a pci-express slot you should be fine

whats your price range?

Well, I was hoping to stay around $100.
What ever you do make sure your p/s is strong enough for whichever card you choose, and make sure your computer 's interior is big enough to handle larger cards. I almost went for an 8800gt but stopped as it's a 9inch card that was too big to fit in my system.
ok. 9600GT is right there and the 9800GT starts about 120$ both will run the game, 9800 slightly better

ok and the best prices are usually at new-egg?
and whats p/s (power supply)? How can you tell what your computers p/s is?
One more thing if you guys don't mind, what do u want to look for in a graphics card, like do u look at clock speed or the size (mb) i just dont really have it when it comes to video cards?
Thanks
good point on the size issue Chip. and my 9600GT superclocked has run fine on 350w for about 4 months now

hey copper, i know your saying the 9600 is a good but it looks like it and i'm leanning towards that one, what would be a card though that would be one step down from that that could still run WAR? i mean if there is one.
Thanks
most cards in that range are 512mb cards, that is plenty, dont really worry about clock speeds with your price range. ocing will just add money. and p/s=power supply

a step down would be a 8600 card, not sure how it will run war but i dont think there is a big difference between 9600 and 8600

oo ok ic ic. but like how do i tell how much p/s my comp has, like where would i find that info. does it usually just say it along with system specs or wat?
Thanks
the sticker on the psu itself

o ok ic, and ur thinking my comp is 300w, and then ur also saying that these video cards only require that?
Well to be on the safe side no less than a 600, and for a card under 100 id say 8600 gt XXX just as good as a 9600 every thing else is good to go
and you should only look at 3 companies BFG XFX and eVga good warrenties b( but crap CS)
idk, you may have 350-400w i run mine on 350w but it says it requires 400w, no problems yet. the pwr requirements for the card should be listed in the specs on newegg

but, i dont mind if i hurt somthing since im building a comp right now
