Please let me know if you find any good roleplaying there. I didn't.
There are roleplaying sims and games inside of Second Life. Although, they're not all that great. Some people can get into roleplaying there and enjoy it very much while others can't. You sort of have to get creative with roleplaying inside of Second Life and learn to enjoy it for what it is. Settings, rules, content and other aspects have to be imagined and, at times, determined on-the-fly which can feel like you're on the set of a movie being filmed. Don't expect any sort of mind-blowing combat to be readily available, either. Unless someone has got creative enough to really put some imaginative effort into it. There are several factors which can alter the experience of roleplaying within Second Life. I would say roleplaying in Second Life is a lot like a MUD because of Second Life's larger social aspect.
Just a simple question here as to why you will not be playing the game. Too busy with your current mmo ? Waiting for other games ? Whatever the reason may be just put it here. No bashing the game, keep it clean and have fun!
Having beta tested the game for a significant length of time I feel that the game doesn't seperate itself from the rest of the PVP centric MMORPG's that currently exist or even the MMORPG's that are not PVP focused (eg WoW) that are out there.
In defense of WAR though I will say public quests may be the defining feature that separates itself from the rest of the pack, but I am uncertain if that is enough.
The lack of severe death penalties in PVP is a concern to a degree, but the game is targeted toward casual players so this is understandable. They want people engaging into the fun whenever and however they wish so that is perfectly valid.
Biggest concern? While there are many ways to contribute to your realm in reality I believe because of the focus on catering toward casual players the instanced scenarios will become the most popular even if that was not the intention of the devs originally.
As we all know people either have a love or hate relationship with instances and it looks like the "world" PVP in general will suffer because of it in WAR IMVHO over a long period of time.
I will not play WAR because it looks similar as WoWs gameplay.
I cant stand all those light effects, target cirkles on ground and so on. And i love all WAR cinematic trailers so much, but what if they had neon nametags in those trailers : (
Its not WAR, its me. A few years back, I might have jumped for joy over a title such as this. But I've changed.
Blame it on EVE, for introducing me to a totally new game concept for me. (sand-box worlds). Blame it on LotRO, as it was just so much more of the same it might have burned me out on fantasy MMO's forever.
Blame it on AOC, for being an unfun game along the same lines as Vanguard, but for different reasons.
But now I just can't get excited.
The mechanics don't appeal to me anymore. Level to 40, gain 80 levels of reknown ranks (or whatever they call it these days) capture the same keeps over and over and over..and lose them just as quickly. Jump into combat with no regard for self preservation, because fighting and killing are all thats really important, no penalty for dying so don't worry about it.
Nope, seriously questioning if I'll play this game. Promised my son I would, but that might be the only reason now.

To those that are concerned with "replayability", look at the 10 million hamsters in their wheels playing the game that is WoW - especially the battleground PvP (I was one of them too so I say this honestly.)
At least in WAR you'll have more motivation and reasons to do things other than yourself, even do them over and over if it comes down to it. You can say "well you just take the same keeps over and over, it's just back and forth". You could also say that about waking up every day, going to work, etc.
This game's definetely not for everyone and there's been some good reasons in this thread so I wish everyone who isn't playing the best of luck. There's a game out there somewhere for everyone I think.
Why: Because it's the same old pay $50 for a game, then pay $15 on top of that (I can deal with one or the other, not both) and will likely sell the same old $30 expansions for new content (like, real new content not tiny polish-type improvements or finishing of the crap that was almost done at release but not quite). And it will likely have the same boring class/level system too. Bah.
Well, for me it is because a game based on PvP is not my cup of tea... I do like pvp occationally but after beign burned at recent launched games.. not going to try a brand new game at launch... I want something that has worked its bugs out.. (who knows might try it in a few months down the road but not now...)
secondly i really wanted a MASSIVE game... this just doesnt seem massive enuff.. I do hope everyone has a good time though and wish WAR a fair start... The next game I truely wish to wait for is Kotor being published by Bioware... anyway have a good one all
Firstly like many mmos the game will not be a finished product when it is released. Yes I know Mythic has announced this to everyone and what they do release may very well be in good working condition but it doesnt change the fact that 4 cities will be missing along with a number of classes. Considering that there were only going to be 4 classes on each side that limits my choice even further. Yes I know that means 24 classes in total which is more than previous games but I like to be creative with what I play as and WAR doesnt offer that level of variety. I'm sure the game will be quite good fun as it is but I would rather wait for 6 months or a year when hopefully the game will be closer to what it was originally meant to be. Also I am playing EVE at the moment and I just cant see myself going from a game with lots of choice into one that limits what I can be and do and forces me to pick cookie-cutter classes along with everyone else. I still hate the fact that human wizards all have to be fire mages! Isnt that gonna look a bit silly? Also I'm a bit tired of all these story-driven games to be honest. Its about time that more sandbox-style online games started coming out where the players create the situations rather than us getting told what to do and where to go. I will still probably give WAR a bash at some point though if I get bored with EVE.
What this guy said.. minus the eve stuff, that game is boring. I dont buy unfinished games, unfinished games wind up being trash... case in point... age of conan.
The only creative devolopers left seem to be the korean ones, and everyone bashes them instinctively, but at least the korean devolopers come out with unique storylines and we dont have too spend 6 years debating the next star wars rehash....

i wont be playing because the community is as rabid as AOCs. And Spamming the pub about Warhammer threads makes me want to play it even less. And i never cared about the WAR universe, also the combat is stale and Worse the WoWs

Enjoying Eve Online and looking forward to it's ambulation expansion. And Star Trek Online after that. I'm not really interested in fantasy MMOs anymore.
I won't be playing it until it's been released a few months, because by then the circus of hype that new MMOs generate will have died down, and other players will have seen what the game is REALLY like to play.
There's been too many games of late that - as they always do - seem like the Second Coming of online gaming, only to be revealed as the usual bug-ridden, rush-released grinfests that are trying to scrape by on eye-candy. Hellgate: London and Age of Conan, for example, step forward and take the bow of shame, please.

It seems like they dipped into the standard MMORPG "parts bin" a little too often for game features and ideas. It leaves me asking "haven't i played this game before and didn't I just quit a game that was like this?"
When you consider the talent behind this game it seems off.

Quoting this part because this is a huge chunk of what I'm looking for in the next MMO I'd want to play. If it would ever come out that is.
I'd only add I'm looking for an exploration game. I'm less pvp oriented oriented and would like the skill and exploration parts instead. Take awhile to get from point A to B and discover a forgotten underground city along the way. Stuff like that.
Originally posted by gillvane1 Exactly what I'm looking for. Same old same old, (with solid RvR) in a shiny new package. I'm not being sarcastic, I am looking forward to playing WAR. Waiting for Darkfall seems like this to me. I will make you a meal from a new recipe. When you eat it, you will see angels, and hear trumpets blow, you can eat as much as you want and never get fat, if you're bald you will grow hair, if you're fat it will make you skinny, if you're a woman it will enlarge your breasts, if you're a guy, it will make your penis hard, AND it will make you young forever. I havent' finished the recipe yet, but I'm very close. Now, I suggest you starve yourself to death until I"m finished making it. Or, you could have a nice juicy steak, or some pie while you're waiting. But probably you should starve yourself until I'm finished.
I won't be playing WAR because it is another god dammed Big Mac in an industry full of Big Macs. I rather not eat Big Macs and save my money while I wait for SWG Pre-CU, STO possibly (its FAQ and recent video looks interesting), on the off chance Darkfall, or some other MMORPG that is finally at least a quality hamburger.
Yeah for me I'm not 100% convinced yet this game will have alot of replayability. I know it is new and alot will try it bt I think for me it is best I wait and see how things go after launch before trying it for myself.
I said the same thing about a year ago. People will get bored fast with the LINEAR play style of WAR and the RVR tiers. Not much here then this aspect of the game. It is weak on PVE which is what WAR is about anyway with the RVR aspect and not being much a PVE game.
I just don't see this one holding much attention to players in the long run.

I think it will be a great game, better than DAoC. But.. I'm tired of fantasy genre mmo's. Waiting for a good sci-fi mmo.
Enjoying Eve Online and looking forward to it's ambulation expansion. And Star Trek Online after that. I'm not really interested in fantasy MMOs anymore.
Leaving any flames etc out of the picture..
The main reason is:
The first MMO I played was Ultima Online.. the idea of the early game and what the early game was... is still the best memory for *me* ever in an MMO.
SWG was very close for *me* at one time anyway.
Levels, classes etc... just don't do it for me.
I'm obviously not the demographic that mmo developers are looking for.. simple as that.
Hope that those who play enjoy the game.
I won't be playing it until it's been released a few months, because by then the circus of hype that new MMOs generate will have died down, and other players will have seen what the game is REALLY like to play.

No I'll wait for the free trial
I think Its clear that this game was made for a 10 year old.
Not too clear to me. I've already pre ordered. And I'm pretty darned excited!
I can't wait to play the game. It seems like a pretty good time it going to be had by a lot of people.
