And they do have writers for the film already. It is the same duo who gave us the gems "Sahara" and "A Sound of Thunder" back in 2005.
So I would not go getting your hopes up.

Actually I follow movies a lot too, I posted that pic the day it appeared on the net :)

Lionsgate made the announcement before Erling did for Funcom, its only recently last couple weeks that Lionsgate came on board properly. Adding a second writing team on too. It was the press release / report that cited the $100 million mark which came out before what Funcom said.

Im not sure of plot at this point, but I would suspect that there might be a strong tie in with the period that Age of Conan is set in the Conan universe timeline. And for that reason I think that the two companies are conversing.

I hope they do a good movie. I played the game and feel like I was ripped off. If Funcom was not taking part in this I would be behind it 100%. And Lionsgate should make anyone nervous after the fiasco with Midnight Meat Train and how they stiffed Clive Barker.

one thing what bothers me if failcom have any thing to do with a movie, It will have no ending.

just as the film comes to a climax the credits roll.

and some lieing fat git in a conan suit rolls up the screen saying  " sorry we could not impliment the end its coming soon ".

The movie will launch without any special effects, but they will be patched in for the DVD version.

There both created around Robert Ervin Howard`s works on conan and it stops there.
so there making a movie on the same subject as this.
It is not a failcom franchise and they have no other rights apart from a 20 year contract for games.
sounds to me like EE is trying to piggy back some fame from a movie.
makes me laugh, next thing you know Conan the movie stole failcoms ideas!!
Get a Grip failcom you bought the gaming rights for a period of time to franshise you contributed nothing to.
So far you have tainted it so i would stay well clear , like in a corner with your dunce cap on
I tell you what Robert.E.Howard would be turning in his grave with how failcom have represented his work to the public and how they have teated there customers for money.
Never mind the way there clinging to every other bit of media which pops up with his work.

Well said and good read on Pinnochio

In other news Al Gore endorses AOC according to EE.

"Mr. Gore likes trees, we have lots of trees in our game so that puts us on the same team. We are planing on tying the two together"

This just across the news desk

Girls Gone wild Franchise and AOC to work together .

An inside source at Funcom headquarters was quoted  as saying

"Well we are obviously working together on this project. They have girls showing their boobies and so do we. We will be using the DVD's to produce storylines that will tie in to AOC"

A call to GGW headquarters produced the following

"Fun-who? Never heard of them. Ohhhh the guy with 415 active accounts 2 months ago? Ya we tried to get proof of that number but no luck. As far as working together, well according to his business plan we breath the same air so that makes us partners.  Whatever!"

Ok so once again it just shows us the marketing hype bs train they ride on at Funcom the only credit they can get is the fact that they sold all those boxes making it possible for investors to be sought to pay for the movie and what exactly does any of this have to do with them fixing the other 80 percent of the game they made?

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

I heard that they want to make AOC a series of movies that scale to the epic proportions of LOTR movies. With the effects and all they are going big. $100 million is for the series one after another, think 3 total films. Say that I leaked this info from a good friend of mine in the WGA.

My opinion on the movies will be that they are trying hard to grab players after the debut of these movies to draw them into the failed world of AOC. We shall see how good they are. I sure hope if it is done that Peter Jackson sets to direct them.

Who let you in the VIP section?

Peter Jackson would be a good choice.

Its about having products and tieing them all in for maximum exposure.

Just look at the war hammer franchise, War Online, War 40k, War battle march - all releasing near each other to jump on the bandwagon - its nothing new and not so wrong either.

Whenever, there is a big movie, a book or two releases along with a video game at the same time.

If they are just scripting it now, and if FC are still just in early stages of 360 development then the cycle for the two of them t o be released could be close to each other.

Please dont say Funcom have anythng to do with this movie..... Will be a film with half the actors missing, and adding new scenes 5 months after release that have naff all to do with the film.

Peter Jackson would be an awesome choice I will agree with that =] ..... hes the blizzard of directors.

I can see it now, it will be 20 minutes of intense action, filmed at some beautiful location, recorded in hi def sound, but at 21 minutes the film gets stuck, then bubbles and is torn in two.  The management does not apologize  and plays down for what has happened, this includes not giving refunds, they still say it’s a great movie and then they say come back later we will try to fix it by the time the sequel comes out.

You forgot the part where they eject anyone who complains from the theater.

I do not think the Rock is going any where near this. He should be tied up with the new Shazam movie.

I had high hopes for the film.  I was even hoping that Frank Miller would direct it at some point.  Sadly, this tie-in dashes my hopes. Lion's Gate should look at the stocks and reconsider IMO.

The poster will advertise a full color picture, in reality it will be black and white.

    (Most characters will have voices...)

I can't see how any self respecting movie producer could associate themselves with Failcom, this movie is already smeared with stuff that looks like peanut butter.

  • BazankoBazanko Member Posts: 130
"We have a very close relationship with the guys making the movie," Ellingsen continued. "I had lunch with the producer just the other day. We're talking to them all the time.
"Yes, we will tie the two together."

    Reminds me of another story.

Ellingsen was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed Ellingsen, 'being a bit chubby I haven't got the energy.'

'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients.'

Ellingsen nibbled  at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, Ellingsen was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

Ellingsen started to preach from the highest brances about the fantastic features in AOC coming soon.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree. Falling faster than failcoms subscriber base, Ellingsen fell to the ground dead

    Moral of the story:

Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there..

They aren't that great.  If you want awesome, read the REH stories.  They make the Arnold versions look like an episode of Strawberry Shortcake.
