Just a quick jump in here and then I will keep quiet. Isn't release next month? If so, then they shouldn't be having these kind of bugs in the game this close to release.
Yes this is exactly what I am trying to say.
They have a couple weeks at best to get some things done.
The game will be shipping soon.
They also took out content just like other MMO's have done and promised later.
Really you guys need to be realistic about this game and not hype it too much or you'll set your selves up for a big fall after the first month or two.
I know this wont happen though as some people will always be rabid fans of any game
Anyhow Good Luck hope they dont bash your game to hard.
Truthfully, I love this game lol. I really do , myself and my wife are buying copies and going to play the literal hell out of it (I was in closed beta before this weekend).
I can't lie though, I hate the pathing on this game and really hope they fix it. It is one of my very very few complaints. I'm hell bent on playing my squig herder. So I would notice pet pathing more so than others.
There was a post on here that talked about that. The devs already stated that the recent patch did some serious damage to pathing, yet they are working on fixing it, so i wouldnt worry too much about it.
Oh my.. I better cancel my pre-order. I guess all the fun iIve been having is just a delusion of grandieur! I can't play a game with... sychrinzed running glitches.
Are you sad? Here something to cheer you up. Go to any quest location with mobs. Tag a few of them. Watch and enjoy. Here is what will happen:
One will turn in your general direction but will get stuck in an invisible obstacle The second will start running towards you then passes you then disapears on the horizon The third will start running opposite direction of you, stop, mill for a half a minute then return to you The fourth may actually reach you, SURPRISE!!!!
Now, once one or two mobs are hitting you run around them, but careful ... just a few yards ... don't take too many steps cause they'll reset. Turn around and enjoy the show: The mobs will most likely get stuck in one-another, they will mill about, one direction, then the other, then they will begin the synchronized running in place event where their feet move but their bodies won't. They are now slowly and hopelessly merged into one another. . Wait a few minutes. They may untangle. Wou will need to take two more steps so that they re-entangle. The programming on this game is surprisingly bad. It is one thing to have bad path finding, and other to have mobs run the opposite direction, that is not bad path finding ... that is incompetent path finding. This game has bugs of such magnitude that makes one wonder just what the heck were they thinking.
While you're so happily tapping away at your keyboard to share this amusing little tale with us... I have to wonder...
Did you put an equal amount of enthusiasm or effort into reporting it to Mythic as a bug? Complete with all the steps you described above, maybe even screenshots to illustrate it? You know... the entire point to being in a Beta Test in the first place?
I think Mythic would have far more use for such info than we do here. Of course, unless you're merely looking to get attention, instead of actually being helpful.

Honestly, I doubt he is in the beta. Its easy for anyone to say that they are currently in the beta of the game, and arent able to talk about it cause of the NDA, and once the nda is lifted, all they need to do is look around for some info, and act like they know it from first-hand experience.

Very possible.
But, going on the notion that I don't know either way... I just have to wonder, because it really irks me when people like him, who *do* get into Beta, completely waste the spot so they can:
1. Get a free preview at the game
2. Make no effort to actually help improve the game by reporting the bugs they find
3. Instead of reporting the bugs to the people who can fix them - the entire point of having a Beta Test - they come on to forums like this and instead talk about how much the game sucks.
Meanwhile, there are people out there waiting in line to get in who would likely be more than happy to report anything they find, because instead of eagerly waiting for the ambulance chasing to start, they want to actually see the game do well.

Just a quick jump in here and then I will keep quiet. Isn't release next month? If so, then they shouldn't be having these kind of bugs in the game this close to release.
Bugs can, and often do, continue to be addressed right up 'til days before the Gold Master is sent out in many cases.
And... to put it another way... The reason they have beta testing now, and are opening up to Open Beta soon is *because* they want to catch and iron out as many bugs as they can before launch... at least catch the major game-breaking ones.
No game... hell... no piece of *software* period... will ever be 100% bug free. It's impossible.. too many lines of code interacting with too many other lines of code that could be tripped up under the most obscure circumstances.
I used to work as a QA Analyst for a software company and you wouldn't believe some of the screwy things customers would do to cause crashes.... I'd be going through the steps to recreate the problem thinking, "What the hell were they even trying to do?"
In many cases, it wasn't something the software was designed or intended to do... but they did it.. and it crashed the software... so we had to fix it.
It's a never-ending process.

Anyone that is in the Beta will tell you the pathing before the recent patch was 1000x better. It had some issues here and there but what pathing doesn't?
So armed with the knowledge that Mythic has made absolutely fine pathing before a different patch broke it (which happens in programming a lot). lknow of the issue and it is a top priority, what are you complaining about?
Yeah, I dont have alot of experience in coding. I know my way around VB, not the greatest, and its rather ancient in what its capable of. Its amazing though what one missplaced variable, or forgetting to put an '>' in the right spot can do to a program though. Its like a drop of water falling into a lake. It may seem insignificant, but that drop causes a ripple, which spreads and spreads and spreads far from where the drop touched

I will start with saying I am really enjoying the game. I have been playing in closed beta and have played more this weekend than I normally play in a week in MMOs.
That being said, the OP posted true. I have seen it myself on many, many occassions and did report it as a bug. I think it will get fixed but it is funny to try and pull a mob and watch that exact thing happen.
I spotted lots of people calling the OP out as a Troll. Maybe yes, maybe no, but the truth is that the game, while not released yet, does have some buggies in it. The one he pointed out does exist so I do not consider it a trollish post like the hate mongering in "some other MMO threads".
As i said, it will get fixed. I am playing on the Mad Dog Pass server and it was, when I checked, the most crowded. the RVR was great with all those players. I suffered a little lag (and shouldn't with my rig) and crashed a few times tonight but nothing major. Nothing was game breaking for me and the game is enjoyable regardless.
Just a quick jump in here and then I will keep quiet. Isn't release next month? If so, then they shouldn't be having these kind of bugs in the game this close to release.
Bugs like this happen all the time after patching, they fix one thing and another breaks - that's programming!
Not so long ago Blizzard released a patch that left the mobs falling through floors, and still to this day you'll find mobs stuck in trees and such. It's no big deal, at least, not as big as the OP is claiming in a bloody Beta!
Bugs will get fixed, bugs will appear - we're gamers, we're used to this happening... aren't we?
The reason we call him a troll is because of how he acts, yes he may be talking about a bug thats true, but its also a great possibility it isnt something he discovered, or is greatly exaggerating it. I wont say this game is perfectly coded, thats an impossibility with how many variables exist in an MMO, yet he goes out of his way just to bash the game.
Where will the OP be when Mythic fixes this (because they admit it's a huge problem caused by the recent patch and it's their top priority)? He'll be saying that Orks' jaws are too big so WAR MUST SUX LAWL!
Or that the "White Lion" class only has a white lion, so Mythic must be racist since there is no black lion, or yellow lion :P

The worst is a typo, one simple typo and your program fails to run. You can spend ages going over the code wondering wtf you did wrong, then you'll see you typed "edn" instead of "end"! D'oh!

And that's fine... finding bugs is why they let players beta test the game.
My issue was whether he took the time to do his part in testing it by reporting the bug... or if he decided it would just be more fun for him to come here and post about it.
Seriously... and this isn't aimed at you, dougmysticey... I don't understand why people are like 'OMGZ!!! I got into beta and I found this bug!! LOLZ!! This game is gonna fail so hard!!"
I can only think "Yes... that's the entire point of being a beta-tester... you're *supposed* to be finding and reporting bugs... that's the whole point of it".
There are people who, I think, have no idea why companies have a beta phase prior to launch. It's not to review the game.. it's not to render a final opinion on it.. it's not to predict whether it's going to suck or not.
It's to go through the game, go through the content, play the game as you normally would. Perhaps even go out of your way to do things you normally wouldn't do, to see if you can break some part of it.
And if you can, you then report it, with details of what you were doing, where you were and how you caused the bug to occur.
The developers can then look into it and, ideally, fix the problem.. or if it's not something "game breaking", assign it a level of priority and get to it when other more important issues are ironed out.
I realize that's obvious - at least to most people - but there are people whom, like the OP, don't seem to understand this.

doesn anyone remember playing MMOs at release or in OB anymore? people seem surprised if a game is released with issues that still need fixing.
