Well Guys

As some know i'm an older gamer and the cutsey Anime stuff turns me off so I just started Requiem....I notice some lag here and there...

Has anyone played long enough to give me their impressions of the game?..community and guilds too?

Thanks in advance

Tom

I havent played that long, as a matter of fact im only lvl 20. But as far as i see, the community is quite competent. Theres been many times where i needed a party to finish a quest or do something and my party was competent and knew how to play and cooperate. No suicidal aggroing, everyone kept distance and let the kiter lure mobs. I think most of the dungeon are party only as well. This game isnt very widely publized (i dont know why really) so there wasnt as many people playing as i expected. I think its still growing really fast though.

As for guilds, dont know much since im not in one.

I played the entire duration of beta and a week+ after.

What i noticed was that it really is just another cookie cutter asian grind fest, with a diffrent look.  Now if you havent played a lot of thes asian grinders, and/or dont mind this game has some pretty interesting mobs to kill and a kinda fun nightmare system, that causes really hard and kinda rare nightmare mobs to appear in certain places.

The community during beta was nothing more than the pre-teen wow crowd, looking for another wow game.  It was really a shame to see a game that was meant to be mature have a community full of 12 year olds.  After beta they made global chat a premium subscription only function, that really made the global chat 100% more mature, if not kinda dead.

The quests are typical for this genere involving kill and fetch missions.

Lag was a huge problem in beta, they said it was the isp's fault, once beta ended the lag remained along with latency issues.  You will find your self getting hacked to death running from a mob that is very, very far behind you.  If you do make it to a town without death, the guards will watch the mob finish you off.

Pvp was along the lines as the guy who initiated the open field pvp wins, as you have to initate pvp though clumsy controls when your being pked, often times when i was getting ganked, by the time i managed to click on the pker and initiate pvp back, i was near death.

Other than those issues, the game does offer a decent amount of fun beating the bloody crap out of interesting and creepy mobs.  The weapons looked cool as did the armor.

My advice would be to stay off the pvp servers, since open field pking isnt fun in this game and to try to enjoy the game for what its worth, gore-porn.

Oh and to the OP's concerns, im pretty sure that the pre-teen wow crowd moved on after beta, meaning the community should be much more bearible to someone over 21.  As far as guilds go, im not too sure that the guld system is nothing more thana chatroom.  You might want to look into this, the guild i was in was nothing more than a chatroom and pk zerg team in beta.  I would hope they added guild only activites after release, i wasnt in a guild after beta though.

It should get a better by November.  This Thursday they are adding a fourth race, Guild Wars, more content, a months worth of bug fixes, and helm graphics.  In November they are adding in more instances.  One thing that hasn't been mentioned much is the quality of the instances in this game.  Its definetly a step up from most mmos aside from the 1st instance.  Also the expediancy of the localization being 1~3 weeks behind depending on size.

Why do people who hate KMMOs always post about them and complain...

I agree with Cleffy, this game has a lot of potential. Gonna have to wait and see what happens though. If they keep updating like ArchLord and SotNW/GE then it could be a really good game.

Fortuantely it's free so I don't have to wait around to wait for them to do that.

    Because they hate them?

Haha I understand the hate, they're freaking Korean MMOs after all, even if they aren't Korean. (PW International anyone?)

You should have fun with it, it's rather simple and the first 30 levels aren't much of a grind. It's pretty fun and combat is fast (pick a shaman, they'll pwn the crap out of anything and anyone for the first 40 levels)
