I am not bothered by the DF haters and whiners. I am sure I would be one of them if I had been following this game since 2001 or if I was a WOW fanboy. But I just heard of DF this year, so I haven't been banging my head on the wall for as long, and I quit WOW over a year ago. What is starting to annoy me is all the fans crying and demanding to see the UI. Did any of you people play UO? I hope there is no WOW-style UI. Give me a paper doll and the ability to make my own macro/key assignments. I even saw some less experienced players with spells and skills spread all over their desktops. Have a little creativity and a sense of independence people. You don't need a cookie cutter UI to play a game. Make your own hotkeys and shut up, or get pk'ed by me. That is all.
The reason many of these people ask to see the UI isn't b/c they are curious how it looks, or are wondering about it's functionality, it's general layout, or anything like that. People are asking to see the UI b/c then the video has more credibility as an actual in-game video, rather then something they just rendered up and claim that it's gameplay.
Of course, a false UI could simply be rendered into a video, but it would go a long way towards proving that the footage is really in-game.
My god this game looks grim. And it looks worse as every year goes by. It could be an interesting period piece if it ever does come out I suppose. As for the IU, it looks token as if it's some kind of placeholder. Hardly evidence of a fully functioning game.
know because there was no engine that could do what darkfall devs needed it to do when they started making darkfall.
and Ui has nothing to do with the engine
Well there's two things you've said that were obvious nonsense. There were several engines capable of doing what they wanted. The UI is part of the engine. It's an easily changed part but it's still part of the engine.
what engine? because acording to the devs they had to make the tools from scratch. and oyu wouldnt know.
and yea UI can be changed thats the whole point. they could put WoWs Ui in doesnt meant its WoW engine there using. im done im tired
More Darkfall BS, wooo hooo, screw them and their vaporwear. How can someone get excited about a rumor about a video that nobody has seen. And why make one so big, heal give me 15 seconds of new video and I'd at least almost, I say almost have to eat crow.
I'm simply amazed no one has tried to rick-roll this thread to hell and back. I'd do it, but it's a combination of being lazy and not wanting to be "that guy."

I don't get it, you hope there is no WOW-style UI, but you want people to be creative and have a sense of independence and not use a cookie cutter UI to play the game? Is there a better way for people to do any of those than by having a WOW-style UI which is completely customizable? A default UI you can't change, minimal as it may be, will be even more "cookie cutter" (by virtue of being the only one) and allow less creativity and sense of independence than a WOW-style UI.
Aventurine was now developing the technology, the tools, and the game. At the time this project started there was no technology available that would allow us to do what we wanted, so everything had to be made from scratch.
One of the reasons why I think this game will fail is not because of their engine because client side engines are not that hard to make... but because of their server and network.. making that for a MMORPG from the ground up with no prior experience is nearly impossible.

Once again.. Why are you here posting? You seems to lack any interest in this game. Alteast something positive. You seems to have experience in database issues with online games so can you elaborate why it's nearly impossible?

The engine for Darkfall. Or do you think the built it in machine code?
Darfall engine is there own creation. They had to make it themself since there were not anyone out as good as the one they needed for Darkfall game. Take some time creating a new game engine.

I guess being an accountant and not being able to count may also be a problem. You really do talk rubbish, open ended statements with no content just on and on and on.
I just wonder how much you are paid to do this, because you seem to have no reason to be here.

they have shown UI in vids and screenshots
You missed the point.
Like I said, people want to see the UI b/c it's a way of showing that there may actually be a game, it's not vaporware, and the videos and screencaps aren't something they just rendered up. People want to see the UI being used, b/c that could show that there is actually a working game here.
I don't care if a UI has been shown in some screencaps, they could be pasted, or photoshopped onto them, same for a video actually...what people want to see is the UI being interacted with and the game responding
I don't think I'll fully believe until they allow a professional journalist/known blogger (like, from PC Gamer or Joystiq/Massively respectively) to get some hands-on time with the game and report on their findings, but a video showing a functional engine w/ working, functional UI would certainly give pause.

Could you have found screens of any worse quality? Those shots aren't flattering at all. Last two shots look like really bad Mount & Blade knock off.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.

That engine was actually licensable years back. I remember reading a press release of some university that licensed it.

Final Fantasy 7

Wow Silvarch you are one special fellow.
Good luck with your future dunce.
Trammies need to stop polluting the MMORPG landscape. They already have enough games in which to emote hugs and sell garbage by the banks.
