Isn't that when the Mayan calendar just kind of ends....

The mayan, some chinese guy and another dude in history all predicted around the same month.

    Nostradamus.

No you fool.  The world ends in 2012, not 2008. Get it right.

From what I’ve been reading  Dec. 12th, 2012 is the day that the short count Mayan calendar ends(the long count keeps going). It’s tied to a legend about the world being destroyed by fire I believe. According to them it was already destroyed by the other 3 elements.

Last time they had a big event in their calendar it didn’t work out. A god was suppose to return to earth but as it happened around that date the Spanish showed up and started wiping them out.

But there’s another thing that happens on that day that has to do with Astronomy, on that day the Earth will pass through the Milky Way galaxy equator and is going to take us from the north to the south. Who knows what kind of effects that’s going to have on all the stuff that is in such perfect harmony in our solar system.

"One experiment at the LHC, known as ALICE, seeks to re-create the conditions that existed just an instant after the big bang that gave rise to the universe as we know it. LHCb's researchers want to understand why matter won out over antimatter after the creation of the cosmos."

Why you we wont see WAR:
"Then there's the little matter of ultra-microscopic black holes: Detecting such knots of concentrated matter/energy is seen as a bit of a scientific long shot. But the possibility has captured the public attention far more than the Higgs boson, no doubt in part because of a civil lawsuit claiming that such black holes could grow big enough to gobble up "
Simply put Black Hole = No Earth. No Earth = No WAR.

    meh, all this panic.

I mean really, whats the worst that could happen?
